The LTX Defender tires come in lighter than most other tires at 42 lbs. For a 1500 Ram, I like the lighter unsprung weight. Looking for good mileage and decent sand traction when aired down. I'm guessing a lighter tire would most likely air down better. Some people have said to stay away from LT tires, but I do not see this tire falling into that category. I do tow sometimes, 40 miles r/t.

May I add that I only drive 7k miles a year, 60k/7k= over 8 years tire life.

That's what will be going on my 14 Sport in a month or so. I've had Defenders on my passenger cars for a few years and they do about everything well in snow, rain, ride etc.

Not inexpensive but they are the lowest rolling resistance and wear rated tire around.

I don't haul heavy loads usually so I want the best overall performance, mileage and wear I can get.

Looks like about $1050/set at Discount Tire.

Had the urge to go tire shopping today due to Labor Day discounts. Found a excellent!!?? deal at Belle Tire on the Defender LTX M/S for the 14 Sport. Will be here next week so I'll update then.

Yeah, it looks like the Defender LTX M/S is the ticket. They weigh 42 lbs. and I think there is a discount that may bring the price below 1k.

Ill be going with the LTX M/S soon. I hear they have a really good wear life and they get great traction in all sorts of conditions.

Make sure you check the Michelin website they often have a rebate card available on their site that the dealers don't seem to advertise.

I've found Michelin tend to crack after a few years, especially if not used often

I was looking at Michelins but when checking reviews there are a lot of people complaining that they wear out fast.

I for one Swear by Michelins, they have always improved ride, handling and wear mileage no matter what vehicle i put them on.

The LTX M/S II have low roll resistants for better mileage, I have been getting 65-75,000 miles out of a set if you keep the correct pressure, balance and rotate every 10,000 miles.

Nitrogen is better than air it does not loose pressure like air.

Like any tire make sure you buy the correct load range for the intended use.
