you could take it into the dealership but since according to your user info the truck is a little over 1800 years old I guess it's not under warrantee, there might be cheaper places to take it.:roflsquared::roflsquared::roflsquared:

Google it and see what you find. It may be something simple.

It could be the Encoder/ motor not shifting it properly. I have had to replace mine. as it was having trouble seeing what position it was in. You may also want to check that the Front differential is engaging.

What I would do, is with the key in the on position and vehicke NOT running, have someone rotate the know while you are underneath the truck. in Auto, you will hear the front differential lock in place and the transfer case shift to auto mode. then go to 4 high. should hear the transfer case shift again. then go to Low. I think the (truck needs to be in Neutral).

Turn the volume up here. this is my truck. First noise is the 4 Auto, then 4 high, then 4 low. then it goes back. I have the NVG case, you may have the Borg Warner case but they should produce similar shifting patterns.

If your encoder motor is not operational, it is a pretty easy fix. I just ordered the part off amazon and I believe 3 bolts and a plug and it was out.

Hi arsenault408,
If you do decide to take your vehicle in to the dealer for diagnosis, feel free to reach out. I am happy to assist you in making an appointment or following up if needed.

i had a similar issue with my 4wd and it would flash the light and what i did was try to put it in all three different positions (2wd, 4wd, 4wd low) and it ended up fixing itself after I did this a few times, it might have been a miracle but i hope that helps. let us know how it goes bud.

I dont really recall a time for it, but less than 30 mins maybe. It is literally 3 bolts on mine plus the electrical plug.

some instructions say to pull the front driveshaft but it can be done without.

for mine, the encoder rings wore out so my truck would freak out when it was damp or cold and I would get a SVC4x4 light and TC off light and show 4 low when it was in 2 high when I started the truck. replacing it solved this or leaving it in 4 auto.

IIRC, you need to put the case in Neutral before removing as the new encoder and motor ship in that position.

the NVG that I have was also used in GM vehicles of prior years so it was very available.

Get up underneat and see which case you have. If it is the NVG one, should be about $165 for one from amazon.

here is how to replace on a 2006 to 2010 if you have the NVG. I did not remove my front shaft. just worked around it easy enough.

Did you ever get to test and see what issue was?
Brought it in to the dealer today they played around with it a bit and now it works they said if it goes again you'll need a 800$ transfer case motor
