I had a 2004 1500 from May 2010 until January 2015. Sold it to my mom who was in love with it and I never had an issue with it at all. I turned around and bought my 2014 1500 in January and I already want to buy another one! I want a Sport, but I ain't big money like some folks. I think I know what sound you're talking about and it's normal. The "tick" happens after the truck has sat over night or for a while, but it goes away after like 5 seconds. Nothing to worry about. I say it's a good price, but I'll buy new from now on.

I had not had the pleasure of reading your signature. I don't think RAM is the only one of the big 3 made in MEXICO, though..

Probably not, I've had 4 repairs under warranty, 2 were cosmetic and 2 were mechanical. It sure does look good, i'll see how it does once my factory warranty expires. Thinking about getting the maxcare lifetime warranty.

On my second new Ram. Yes I would buy one again. Been very happy, not that I wouldn't buy other brands too, have had several Fords, but for the price I get more truck from a Ram.

What were the mechanical repairs?

First was a Evap leak that was found, then sealed. Second was a bad purge solenoid. Haven't had any major issues so far, besides a small annoying knocking sound behind the dash, I can't diagnose.

Yes. The 2017 Laramie I bought a few weeks ago is my 4th Ram since 01. I've had Chevy, Ford and Nissan since then also. Only two gave me any trouble. The 05 F-150 with 5.4 Triton and 02 Ram with 4.7. That 5.4 engine was the worst of the bunch by far where mechanical issues were concerned. Within the first 8 months of ownership (we bought it new off the dealers lot) it had to have 4 injectors, 4 coil packs and 2 catalytic convertors replaced. The 02 Ram 4.7 had a bad thermostat. The Chevy, Nissan Titan and other Rams were problem free besides recalls on my 2014 Ram. I like the Ram with 5.7 and 8 speed transmission a lot. That being said, I'd be willing to buy another brand that had the looks, features and price I'm after. Ram has been the only one in the last few years that checked all the blocks when I've been ready to buy my last couple of trucks.

Look at used diesel prices. To get under 100k mile 4x4 Cummins everything I saw was over $30000. Then you gotta worry about front end parts, transmission etc. Bought my new truck for 35k with a warranty

LOL my dad paid 15K Canadian for that truck and it has 120 000km...lol.. :roflsquared: Dodge front ends are junk on 1500 as well and 6 speeds have no issues compare to the POS dodge automatic tranny.

What kind of issues were you having that led to being bought back by FCA? I will have my mechanic look extra close at the exhaust manifolds and for any leaks.

The problems were solely electrical, had nothing to do with the manifold. There were problems with the park sense system and light out warnings. I loved the truck, they just never figured out what was causing the electrical problems so they eventually had to buy it back. Nothing is ever perfect, and if they could've fixed it I would still have the truck. I couldn't be happier with my '17 and don't have any regrets about it or thoughts about getting a Chevy or Ford. Don't let my one problem dissuade you from buying one.

Hell yeah, I've had 3, 2005, 2010, and current is a 2012. If I didn't love my 12 so much, I'd go after a 17[emoji15]

I'm on my 4th 4th gen. Had issues with 2. One traded off one lemoned. Still bought a 4th one. I've also had 2nd gens. One diesel one gas. Should have kept that diesel.

I'd buy another ram. Just not new BC I don't want 7 years of payments.
