So I've already decided that my 2/4 drop is a little much up front, so I'm going to be lifting it back up slightly.

Eventually I wan't to switch from the 305/40R22s that I have now so something with a smaller wheel and a larger overall diameter. Honestly I'm not a big fan of the 22" wheel look and it's a lot of extra weight for no reason. I'm favoring some 20" wheels a little more for my purposes.

Problem is, finding a 20" tire that's at least as big in diameter as what I have now is a bit problematic. I'd like to have at least a 285 width, but bigger is perfectly fine. I also don't want an offroad tire or something that's going to cost an arm and a leg.

Any experience with this?

I know you are more of a "street looks" guy and I'm "off road looks" guy, but I got rid of my 20's as quick as I could. I hated the premium tire price for a non premium wheel, 20's are a basic standard on 12 ton's.

Bro, this is exactly why I never swapped the wheels on mine. I liked the 20s and having a little meat on the tires...

I'm not a huge looks person to begin with, but I completely agree that 22" wheels are a little much. The only reason you need bigger wheels is for bigger brakes IMO, and I'll never run brakes that require a 22" wheel on this truck lol.

Well mine came with 22" wheels to start, then I traded Unbroken for his SRT-10 replicas. I like the replica look though, so I may get those in a 20" or just use the 20" wheels I have sitting in my shop and have them painted black.

Either way I'm going to be due for new tires in another 10,000 or 20,000 miles so I'm looking at options now. I'd rather sell my current tires with a little tread left so they'll go quickly.

I like the idea of the 20" srts and some meaty tires. IMO, that keeps it more "truck-like", not to mention a little cushion for pot holes!
For 3 years I tried to convince myself to get 22" rims and I couldn't... I just like the powder coated factory 20s look to much!

I completely agree, though I probably won't sit as low as your truck in those pics. I've had too many issues with my current setup hitting my fender liners.

Take a look at the toyo STII pretty decent tire and they have a ton of sizes for a sports truck tire.

Well I had 305/50 R20's and I liked the look. They were 12.5" wide. The only issue was they were a 32" tire (actual size was just under 31"). I recently bought new tires and had three sizes in mind. 305/50/20, 285/50/20, or the stock 275/60/20. I wanted to close up some fender gap and didn't care as much about performance anymore so I went with 275/60/20. Happy with my decision so far and it rides a little smoother.

Here are the tires side by side.

David, please stop posting pics of your truck. I can only cry so much. :baby:

Great choice! Can you post a pic with the 275s and 305s in the same post for comparison, please??

These two pictures can sort of show the difference.

For your sake, I hope you can find a firmer spring that will reduce the travel, rather than actually raising the front...
These trucks have great stance at 2/4 imho.

Take them out and show some header...
Lol no thanks.

That's actually what I have on the truck now.

Well it doesn't quite work like that... a firmer spring that's the same length as these will ride higher. You'd actually need a slightly shorter spring to get the ride height identical.

That's easy to solve though. I can just cut the springs to whatever length I want.
I agree. The 2nd pic looks better than the 1st...

PassivAggressor your truck looks even better with the new tires.
I agree. The larger tires look great.

Are those wheels R/T replicas in a 20"?

Of course I understand that... I meant that I hope you find/cut a firmer/shorter spring that gives you the same ride height, yet less travel (therefore not rubbing as bad) and still maintain the 2/4 drop look, lol!

I honestly want to lift the front a little bit. Currently it's more than a 2" drop. I only have about 2" between the wheel and the fender right now, and it's not enough IMO.
