Since Im more than leveled now, I think Id outta start a new thread. I cut my oem coils yesterday by a lil' less than half a coil. Up front I got about 1" drop. Out back I got close to 1.5." I didnt cut the rear though. I was givin a set of used oem coils by another member for shipping cost. He'd already cut them before I got them.
So after running a half tank through her, and pulling a trailer. She rides just as good as stock. No alignment issues, and NO BOUNCING. Im gonna ride with it for another week or so before cutting them again.
Also, I think ricers and s10's ride like crap because a. the coils may have been heated, instead of cut. b too much of the coil was cut. c. the vehicles dont weigh enough.
Our trucks are pretty damn heavy, and I think that helps smooth out the ride.
Here are some pics
Before
Rear leveled
Pumpkin held up by jack, jack stands on frame just before axle. Sway bar end links, bottom bolt on shocks, and top bolt on pan hard bar removed. Lower the jack slowly, and the coils will fall out.
Cutting coil with cutoff wheel. Takes 60 seconds to cut through coil.
Two hr rain delay to start the front
Rain over, night here.
With the floor jack under the lower control arm. Loosen the upper ball joint, tie rod end, and upper nut on sway bar end link. I left the nuts on by a couple threads, and used a pickling for and my BFH to separate them. After a couple whacks (busted loose after 5-10 whacks, surprisingly) the componets will drop, and you can slowly lower the jack. I removed the shock, and pushed down on the lower control arm to pull the spring out.
Cut coil compared to stock coil.
Empty trailer
