Default McGaughys 2" Lowering Springs- Shock Upgrade?
I've searched quite a few threads on rear lowering springs only but it seems guys are doing the full 2/4 Kit...

I just plan on lowering the rear 2" with McGaughys Springs and leaving the front alone, my question is should I upgrade the rear shocks to some QA1'a or Rancho adjustable's or just leave the stock ones on.
I want the truck to look a little better but not stiffen it up all, the wife will hang me. If anything would like to make it a little more comfortable on the highway.

Its a Quad Cab 2WD V8 with the Short bed if that makes any difference.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure the brand because I bought them used from a guy but I just installed rear springs and it almost has a sag look to it. I have the cc 5.7' bed 4x4 so I'm not sure if it's the extra weight of the truck doing it or if it's just my eyes playing tricks. Sometimes it looks level and times it looks like it sags.

Were they stock cut springs or aftermarket. 2" Seems like will be on the conservative side of lowering the rear compared to how the front sits.

I bought a set of nitro 2 drop shocks( the oem ones were leaking anyways). I think they ride great and my truck only sagged if I had the whole bed full of snow otherwise it fully leveled with the front. Before I put weight in the bed the rear end sat slightly higher until the springs wore in a bit. I've read a few places that it's a good idea to run shocks meant for either lowered, lifted, or just stock height. That's my reasoning for buying the Nitro's.

Thanks SilverBullet, now that you say that I did see a small spot on the floor of what looked to be from a leaky driver side shock.
May as well change them out.

I haven't found 2" drop springs yet. Found 4" drop and 2" and up raised shocks.

McGaughy's (2") and Ground Force(3") both have drop springs.

if you dont want a harsh ride after the 2" rear drop i would recommend trimming the factory bumpstops a bit, my old truck was rough on the highway with the 2" rear drop before i trimmed the bumpstops
