wanted to post this up as there never seems to be enough photos of us all using our lowered half tons to tow.

Finally took a photo of my rig all loaded up.

Love that this thing still tows with the GF 2/3 kit. (35psi in the helper bags)
*Missing from this pic is the wife's dirt bike.

Do you have any info on the helper bags? Such as Product# or where to buy?

Thanks

I'm sure you can buy them anywhere. Got mine at the local truck accessories place.

The air Lift T1000 helper bags are what I'm running. Part number 60818 is for a stock height Ram. The ones for a Durango fit better for the lowered guys.

Super easy install and a great product. I've had mine on for about 70,000 KM with no issue.

Do you manually fill them with a compressor? If so how has that worked out for you?

Yup. Nice things are not cheap. You could piece it together and save a few bucks. Lots of threads with guys doing the same.

Yes, I T'd the bags so i only run a single air valve in the gas filler door.
Super easy to fill with the compressor.

well hello! :)

after reading this thread about 1000 times... I'm getting very close to pulling the trigger and spending stupid amounts of money ($1000, after Cdn exchange rate and shipping) to order the Mcgaughys deluxe kit for my 2010 crew 4x4 sport. I was inches away from doing ordering a new build on a 2017 and gave my head a shake. save all that money and just do something different to what I have.

a couple of questions...

what specific changes are required to make the 44050 kit work on the 4x4 without any issue?

what are the part numbers for the Helwig rear sway bar and a panhard bar? are either of these completely required? (or, is stock fine for the time being?)

I currently am running Bilstien 5100's on normal height, with 2" HBS front leveling spacers. I'll be pulling the HBS spacers and using the Bilstiens. I really like the ride over OE with those.

I will be running the stock sport wheels for now until I decide on either a 22" hellcat or SRT wheel, and a 305/45/22 tire, brand also unknown. everything is wayyyy more expensive in Canada so it's going to be difficult to track these down at a somewhat reasonable price.

anything else I'm missing? any suggestions on where to price out the wheels/tires (please pm me that as I'm sure it's frowned upon posting in the forum).

I also have a set of OE style flares like on 0212353's ram, they'll be getting painted and installed as well. they remind me of the gen 3 Dakota R/T flares. I'd really like to see those hellcat's on IanR's white ram (as mine is white) and see what they look like.

thanks everyone!

Are those the bronze ones?
Can't wait to see them installed, BTW you most likely will need 1/4-3/8" spaces up front so they don't rub.

GF is the only complete kit to lower a 4x4 front and rear with no issues (I have not rear any complaint about vibration or tail way with the GF kit). Keep in mind you are getting an engineered kit, all parts designed to compliment and work with each other.

You can piece a lowering kit together cheaper as stated.

Where in Canada are you? if you are close the the border its usually cheaper to have the parts shipped to a parcel service along the border and driving down to pick up the parts. i have been doing that years. I ran the Mcgaughys deluxe kit on my 2014 4x4. Summit had the best price for us Canadians, shipped right to my office with no extra duty or taxes. Some guys have had upper balljoint issues popping and front axle issues with the spindle drop, it is not common enough to worry about it.

OE Wheels said no spacers needed. Also I think others on here are running the same setup with no spacers. But I will know for sure on Saturday.

Also here is the email from Ground Force:

cost without shocks is $539.62 plus shipping

Can you explain better what I need to drill on the rear for the relocation bracket on the deluxe kit??

thanks N1ck. I'm in Woodstock ON. so about 90min from the border, be it MI or NY. summit priced the best online that I saw. $40 shipping fedex standard and around $98 in the 'taxes', which I'd have to pay at the border anyway.
mine in the leveled state that it's in has had a balljoint pop or two in the few years I've owned it. as long as by pop you don't mean it breaks, I'm fine with that. the axle issue does concern me a little bit.. but if it's not all that common and not a major safety issue, I'd be willing to give it a go.
our dollar sucking is one thing.. but the shipping charges on stuff like wheels or tires just kills me. for now I'll likely just use what I have until I find a deal on a used set of something.
