First time Ram owner

Hello All. new to the forum, new to Ram trucks. My old Chevy had seen better days and I found a pretty good deal on a 2015 Tradesman with the Hemi. Better mileage and more power than my old one. I really do hate to jump right in with a question, but here goes.... I just changed my oil for the first time since I bought it. I picked up a fram filter that supposedly fit my truck, but when I went to change it out the new filter was significantly smaller in diameter than the one on my truck. I searched a few different car part sites and every single one said the filter I bought was the one that fit. Supposedly mine takes a 4892339AA, but the filter I took off was a 04884899AC. Amazon says the filter I took off doesn't fit my truck, but it worked fine. The threads and gasket are identical but the old filter was probably 1/2 inch bigger in diameter than the new. Thoughts?
