Noob here. First day, first post.

Approaching retirement (35 years combined active Army/DA Civilian).

Purchasing truck to pull 8K RV travel trailer. Neither purchased yet. Trying to get smart on big trucks.

Top of short list is 2017 2500 Laramie CC 4X4 w/ Cummins. Will use this site to get smart, and hopefully be able to contriubute something back as the years go by.

Now off to see what you all think about a 2017 2500 Laramie CC 4X4 w/ Cummins being used as a tow rig...

Welcome. I'm sure you will get lots of responses saying that a 2500 Cummins will be great for towing

2500 will handle a 8k trailer no sweat. The only problem is later down the road if you decide you want a bigger 5th wheel the 10k gvwr of the 2500 poses a problem with pin weights...the truck can handle it all day long, but legally it will be over weight. Just some food for thought, now would be the time to make the decision 2500 or 3500.

Welcome to the forum. If you want to tow larger than 8K that Cummins is the way to go.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Took it for another test drive today. Then drove the 2500 Duramax/Allison. Was nice also. Wife likes the Laramie interior better.

Need to do this right. Will be a long term purchase
