NEW About to Buy

Hello Comrades, I'm here to dig on the brains of the RAM community.

I plan to purchase a beautiful 2011 RAM 2500 Laramie, comes with the 5.7, has 37k miles, 2 owner truck. Origin was Nebraska then Iowa. Truck was briefly transferred to a Carmax in Illinois now its on its way down to a Carmax in Mem TN where I live. Price is 32k.

Im pretty set on buying the truck but when it arrives and I go look at it I will be as meticulous as possible. Im wondering what are some key things I should look for look for of that particular model year or just 4th Gen RAM's in general?

Before you buy, go to www.cargurus.com and look at Ram Laramies from 2011-2014. Put in lowest mileage and see what you can get for $32K nationwide or in your area.

Just suggesting: I don't know what shape the one you are looking at is in but you might want to look at a couple of others.

Actually, not much needs to be looked at besides general condition, look for damage above and below, run the VIN past a dealer for service & repair history. Run a carfax on it as well.

These are pretty durable trucks and the is well beyond the initial 4th gen model introduction that they've dealt with most of the first year glitches you get with some rigs.

Just inspect it good, make sure it has all the bells and whistles you want, get the VIN and run it at the link below to see exactly how it was equipped.

Dodge - Recall

Go to the "Your Vehicle" section on the left, then click on "Equipment Listing". You'll go to another page. Enter the VIN under "Equipment Listing" in the middle of the page and click on the "Search" button.

You'll get an immediate equipment list for the vehicle.

5.7 might be slightly under powered for the 2500. I'd think that would be quiet sluggish on accel and when towing

I checked cargurus and I couldnt find a better deal than the one I picked. Lowest miles, premium trim, megacab...I think its a great deal for a Laramie,

I saw some Tradesmen for lower but they all had higher mileage, nothing lower than the mileage of the one I want. It's gonna be about 2 weeks before it makes it here to memphis.

Thanks for the recall website. I checked the VIN and 2 Recalls have been performed L16 and N49, deals with the left tie rod and bearings. Carfax is clean, 1 Accident reported but says no damage was

reported. Gonna look hard at the truck to see if I can see if anything is misaligned or loose.

I've heard other 5.7 2500 owners say it was good enough power for pulling campers, boats and a single unit car hauler. I wouldn't go above that though. Better mpg for empty daily driving and

highway...worse while towing compared to a diesel, but I can neither afford the maintenance, upkeep or fuel cost for a diesel at this time in my life...don't have anything to tow either.

So I didn't buy the Green 2500 mega cab from carmax...

Rust is normal for a truck from the rustbelt but I wasn't willing to pay what Carmax offered for a truck in that condition.

No idea why the last pic is displayed upside-down...

But here's the good news!

I am now the owner of this beautiful 14' 3500!

Came with the Coopers and I'm not sure but I think it has a lift...or are they supposed to sit this high?

It was newer, cheaper and has less miles than Carmax's Megacab.

You would NOT have liked the 5.7 in a 2500/3500 truck.
You WILL like them tires, I have had 3 sets of them so far, am very happy.

Dude that's an awesome truck!! How the heck was that cheaper then the 2500 AND has less miles and is 3 years newer??? May I ask what you paid for it?? That is one heck of a truck.

What is the interior like? Leather? Center console or jumpseat?

Yeah its just a basic interior nothing spectacular but man is it comfortable. I financed it $31,115 at 31k miles.

Super happy with theither color. It's Actually Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl but it pops in the sunlight.

Are these Led's under the mirror standard? Or maybe previous owner installed them?

Yeah I test drove that green 5.7 megacab at Carmax and I hated it...i know its a heavy truck but I floored it with 3 of us in the cab and it didnt respond...or maybe it did but I could'nt tell...it was awkward.

I floored the 6.4 and after dropping a gear it hauled some ass. Not gonna drive it like that often but when I need that "get up" ,it makes me feel safer that I can.
