Hi Guys, :)

My name is Yak and I am looking to break free of the car-world and join y'all in the Brotherhood of the RAM. I'm close to making my purchase, but I am wondering if these are decent prices (Canada, ON):

- 2018 factory order, loaded 4x4 Crew-Cab Sport Night Edition, reg. $66000+tax (=$74580), down to $55500 (tax included - tax here is %13)

- 2017 fully-loaded 4x4 Crew-Cab Sport Night Edition, reg $68000+tax (=$76840), down to $54800 (tax included ).

Thoughts? Are these amazing discounts or should I be aiming to push them further down, particularly the 2017 as the 2017 year is basically done at RAM (a year depreciated)? Both of the above are basically the same truck, the latter just has extra options that I don't really need. Does getting a 2017 at this point in the year for the price above beat out any worry of depreciation or should I be focusing on landing a 2018?

Thanks in advance!
Yak

If only a $900 difference then I would take the 2018, or beat them down more on the 2017. Both seem like good deals, but I would expect a little more disparity between the two prices.

This...
One year in, the 2018 will be worth considerably more at same total miles.

Not sure how it would be worth "significantly more" at the same amount of miles. Mileage is mileage. If the 2017 is brand new you can look at it as having extra miles to play with without as much depreciation. Basically when the '18s come out the '17 will be considered a year old and is expected or allowed to have 12K to 15K miles ( or 19 to 24K kilometers in your case).

Running test data on KBB on 2016 vs 2017 models, Big Horn 5.5' bed, 4x, 5.7 hemi, very good condition:
2016 with 28k miles $26,246
2017 with 28k miles $31,102

That is why the deals are available on outgoing Year vehicles.
Unfortunately, the model year has a larger effect on values than pure mileage.

Thanks for the welcomes and the advice, guys! Checking out a few more dealerships to see if they can beat the prices and then I think I'm going to go for it.

Thanks again,
Yak

It must be exciting knowing you could factory order a new Ram but to compare that with a year older model with a 700 difference id go with the factory, oh and dont forget towing mirrors :naughty:
