Greetings - just became a Ram owner this weekend. I traded in my 2012 Miata Hard Top for a 2014 5.7L Laramie 4x4 in Granite, definitely a radical change in wheels for me. I had to make the change because the Miata was becoming more difficult for me to get in and out of due to hip issues that I have, so it was a bit of a bittersweet transition.

I was definitely blessed in what I was able to get - the year end close out pricing on the 2014 model, combined with Chrysler supplier partner pricing got me north of $11k off of MSRP. I've never had a Ram pickup before, but in the past have had several F150's, a GMC Sierra 1500HD, and a Nissan Frontier. The hip had me looking for a truck for a while, and honestly I was considering the GMC Canyon due to it's smaller size - but sitting in one vs. sitting in the Ram it wasn't even close. The Ram seating is just oceans more comfortable, and also isn't a first year GM model. :) I'm also somewhat familiar with the controls as my wife had a Jeep Grand Cherokee a while back.

As I'm getting used to parking this new beast, I'm starting to go through the list of must have accessories. I've ordered the Husky floor mats from Amazon, and while the Laramie seems to have ALMOST every option under the sun, it didn't come with running boards so I'll be adding those rather quickly. Next up will be a bed liner...

I look forward to learning from everyone on the forum.

Get the spray in bedliner, not one of those plastic kind, they destroy the paint, which causes rusting out of the bed floor.

Thanks for the welcome David, Buddy and Harley Harrold!

David - I'm in Round Rock too - been here for 16 years now. We're off of University Drive in North Round Rock. How about yourself?

Harley - I'm definitely not going to do the drop in plastic liner, I had one of those in my 88' F150, and never liked it at all. Warping in the sun, stuff slid around in it, and it definitely wore away the paint... After looking at the threads here on the Bedrugs, I'm getting interested in going that route. I've had a factory spray in liner in my Nissan Frontier, and it held up great (though definitely faded in the sun). It didn't rip up things with its coarseness, but because the bed of the Frontier was so low compared to the Ram (being easy to reach over the side of the bed and get things out), I am a bit worried about the friction being too much to manipulate stuff without having to get into the bed. My hips won't be too happy with climbing into the bed a bunch, just like they weren't pleased with getting in and out of the Miata... :)

I was jazzed to see the info on getting $400 from Dodge towards running boards with a medical reason - huge thanks to this forum for giving me that info!

Welcome!
You'll adjust quickly from the Miata - I switched from a 2007 BMW Z4 M coupe. I do miss the cornering and using the small parking spaces, but lowering / suspension upgrades help.
