Hello Ram World. I picked up a 2017 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 last week. I previously had an old 2001 King Ranch F150 4x4 as a beater and a C6 Corvette, but the wife and I are having our first kid this summer so I consolidated to something more practical. I still have a 1966 Shelby Cobra replica in the garage if I would ever finish putting it back together, so all is not lost.
Before the Corvette I had a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a Hemi and 8-speed, so I am fairly familiar with the powertrain and infotainment systems. It is pleasing to see that they appear to have made some minor but welcomed updates in 4 years. I had a full SS Magnaflow cat-back and Volant CAI on the Jeep.
I have some minor plans for the truck. Thus far I have ordered Mopar slush mats (I'm a project engineer so sometimes my boots get muddy on the job), a Magnaflow muffler to make my own bolt-on Mufflex-ish setup (I have exhaust commitment issues), a K&N CAI, and Bilstein adjustable height front shocks to level the truck. Eventually I will probably be looking to go with slightly larger / more aggressive tires as I had 285/70-17 (33") Toyo Open Country A/Ts on the F150 and I liked the look but I am enjoying the smooth riding and quiet stock tires for now. I realize the stock 275/60-20s are also 33s but they don't look as large relative to the rest of this truck and I have some minor concerns how they will look once it is leveled in the front.
What do people run for a 34.5"-35" tire that is decent for both on and off road? I'm looking to stay with the stock 20x9 chromed aluminum wheels.
Cheers...Robert
Here are a couple of pictures of the other/recent means of vehicular conveyance...
