Speedometer issues

I'm new to forums please help.

Have a 2001. 2500 cummins speedometer works sometimes. Mostly just bounces around. No other light on. Speedometer will not set either. Please help me.

Also will thi make the trans. Shift funny?

It's a fairly common issue.

This was in my '99 1500:

I was stopped at a red light. As I started to move, the speedometer read backwards, correctly. Was screwed up when I bought the truck and had it diagnosed by 5 different shops, all had a different cause and all of them were expensive. Just bought a cheap GPS unit that showed speed (before smart phones) and used that for my speed...
