Hey all,

So i'll go ahead and get it out of the way, I'm a lifetime Chevrolet guy. Owned 5 Chevys and 2 Pontiacs and loved them all. HOWEVER; I'm making my first newer vehicle purchase and fell in love with the Ram. So I'm positive that's what I'll be getting.

Anyway I'm just having a hard time justifying a $30k investment so for the time being I just want some experienced opinions on a particular truck. It's a 2013 1500 Express 5.7 with 19,400 miles. Just 2 or 3 little spots on the exterior, 9.5/10 overall. Sale price is $27,990, $30,021 after taxes and whatnot. I've spent the last 2 days at the dealer and they've refused to drop the price a cent, but it's still the best I've found in 3 weeks. So my question to the Ram community is how good is this price?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to being a part of the Mopar life!

That's right about what I paid for my 2014 1500 CC Express w/ the blackout package in similar condition but higher mileage (43K) earlier this year. It was a Certified Pre-Owned and I got an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty with it. Not sure where in the country you are though, I'm in NY and everything is fairly expensive here. The price I got was actually somewhat low for similar trucks in my area.

Agreed. I think you can do better it consider looking at a new one around that price range.
I spent almost 12 mos shopping around and bought a dealer demo (1100 miles) 2013 Ram Express CC 4x4 hemi/6 SPD back in November 2013 for $29k after rebates, etc Roanoke, VA. Traded it in 4 mos. later on an SLT with 8 speed transmission

It all depends on where you are located. as Kad said in NY things are more than other areas. to me that doesnt sound like a bad deal here in NY but in the south west thats probably high. when i was looking for my foxbody i saw similar cars to the one i ended up buying going for much less than what i paid but in NY my deal was very good. Just search around and compare to whats in your area that is in a distance from you that you are willing to travel.

The market for full-sized trucks (4x4s) is really high right now. It'll probably stay that way until the next fuel spikes, or stock market plunge (which is probably still a year and a half out). Then the prices will drop some, maybe like a ROCK depending on how bad it is. But until then, that price with something really low miles, that's what I'm seeing around here too. I came from GMs too!!

What would it cost if you financed one brand new? What kind of financing rate are you finding for new vs used? With new at least you get a new truck, new design, and low financing ...it makes ya think. Either way, still a lot of $$, right?

Welcome to the group,:favorites13: I would keep looking. I wouldn't deal with a dealer that has no wiggle room.

Keep looking and don't get too excited when you see a truck that you like as dealers see that and then you're screwed.

If you hold off a little and look around some more you could probably move up a year maybe two for about that kind of investment, especially now that the 2018's are out. Maybe closer to xmas ...or into mid Jan when car sales are dead, maybe you can find a 2017 and have some leverage to swing a pretty good deal. I'd be looking for a 2014 or higher if you're in the $30k range. Wasn't there a guy here who just bought a brand new 2017 for like $38k?

I'd rather buy a brand new 2017 for $38k ...if you can find one for, than a 2013 for $30. In 5 years the new truck will still have a fair amount of value, but in 5 years the 2013 would be 9-10 years old and be a lot more depreciated.

I personally went the higher miles/low cost route. You 'pay' one way or another!!

Thanks for the replies,

Yea unfortunately its at autonation with their "no haggle price" BS. I've walked out on them 2 days in a row and they still wont drop a dime. I'm in Mobile AL right now and everything is crazy high down here. But I was planning on doing a swap to the center console as well as possibly the 8.4 screen. May be off to find one that already has them.

Which trim has the painted bumpers and grille like the express but a nicer interior? I'm not as big a fan of the Laramie, I like the express look just want a console really. I'm not in a huge hurry anyway, just my '95 Z71 is getting less liveable by the day haha.

I think that's the "Sport". I like my Express, but if I had the funds I'd happily swap the painted plastic front bumper for a black metal one.
