35s and MPG's aren't always two subjects that get along with each other. I'm planning a bilstein 5100 at 2.1" leveling lift soon. I'm looking at the 275/65 tire size, but considering the 35x12.50 route too. I'm sure this subject has been beat to death, and I've searched, but I think my search was too simple because it turned up zero results.
Everybody knows what's coming next.

What's your avg mpg (hand calc'ed or computer)?
275-65s or 35s?

Thanks!

Oh and by the way I'd like to buy a set of 20" sport take offs, but I can't post in the wanted section yet.

My truck is a crew cab hemi/8 spd/3.92 4x4 and have 35x12.50s on stock wheels. I get about 15-16 depending how I drive. It easily will drop to 14 also. This is average of course. Mostly 2 lane country roads and I drive over the speed limit

thanks for the replies guys. I've got the stocker 275/60s right now. you know, the grocery gitters. I'm only averaging 17 so that's not much of a drop. just have to figure out if I want to spend the extra $300 on the tires just to gain an inch. On a side note, my '14 Tacoma double cab only got 17mpg so I got a bigger truck, with more power and the same efficiency!

17 is about what I averaged prior to tires and leveling kit. My truck is stock otherwise, no exhaust or intake

So yeah that's why I asked. It's not that I need that extra 4 to 5 mpg but 4 to 5 less for one more inch of tire doesn't make sense. Now, a few months from now I'll have 35s! Lol

Yes 20" stock rims with sport tires. Just looking forward to new tires and rims this fall. Looking at bilsteins and new exhaust too.
For a big truck its pretty good on gas. Was very surprised.

Expect a 5 mpg drop when where you currently are. This question has way too many variables to give you a solid answer. I averaged around 16 mpg, however stock I was closer to 20. Both numbers were with a Hemifever tune, CAI, and exhaust. Driving fuel efficiently

275/65-20 and you can see my mpg in my sig. Don't expect more than 15 hwy. I have to work really hard, and drive 65 or less to get that. My truck had 35x12.5 before this set of tires. I couldn't break 13mpg avg. this is all documented via fuelly. Don't believe the evic. And don't believe the "I get 20mpg with 35s" claims either.

I probably lost 1.5 mpg from stock. I think the 3.92rear end helped. I did mod my truck with a tune and intake. But I think that only saved me 1mpg. So realistically I probably lost about 2 if I was stock besides the heavy tires. And I didn't want to spend money on a suspension lift to fit 12.5 wides. That would have cost more and I would lose even more mpg with 12.5 wide tires

I avg anywhere from 10.5-13.75(highest calculated) mpg with Toyo Open Country M/T 35x12.50R20 @ 45 psi, 3.55 ratio, cat back exhaust, 89 octane and all gen maintenance is up to date. My speedo is off as well and I also use long division at ever fill up to figure my mpg.
