I got the HBS level kit I'm installing tomorrow. Any pointers are short cuts? The instructions say to separate the upper ball joint which I can see but the does the tie rod need to be? Also the strut drops out after the lower and upper 3 bolts are out or does the spring need to be compressed to get it out?

I like to know before I get into it. THis is my first tome obviously since I got it in Jan. I have torn apart my suspension 3 times on my car and on others over the years just new to a 4th gen Ram.

I'm pretty sure you will need a spring compressing tool Matt

you can get the strut out without the compressor, but you'll need it to get the thing back in.

Hmm ok. So the top 3 nuts is the spring perch too. My struts on my car I didn't need the compressor till I had them out and took them apart.

its not that bad. less than 3 hours with 2 people and not hurring. It was a PITA to get the strut back in because its 2" longer

I just installed the hbs 2.5 level on my truck and it was difficult to get back in. I didn't use a compressor, just pushed the control arm low and used a pry bar on the right side (hair too long). It took my about 2.5 hours on the right side as I was going slow and 45 minutes to do the left side. My truck also settled down about .5 inch after some miles were put back on. Good luck
Also, my alignment was not affected at all.

Did you take it to get aligned and they said it was good?

Yeah it is harder to get back in. The strut is now 2.5" longer. It was a pain but with the spring compressor helped getting it back in. Mine needed to be aligned it was off in camber mostly

Does it still ride like stock? I figured with 2.5 inches higher, it might put stress on the stock shock.

mine rides like stock. The shock isn't "different", it just has a plate on top of it to push the front of the truck up

Oh ok i must be thinking of something different. I was thinking that it goes on top of the spring, which in turn creates a longer extension for the shock.
