to start off. Hi! I'm new to the truck world.

i have a 2010 1500 QC with a hemi. It has a lift on it and roughly 34.5s (damn metric tires)

i've noticed significant wear on the front tires. Only the inner half is rapidly wearing. it's the same amount on both front tires. i brought the truck in for an alignment and they said that it was perfect. so what's wrong? and how do i fix this?

i assume that once the wear is significant, it isn't really fixable for the current set of tires. but i really don't want this to happen again with a new set of tires! tires had maybe half an inch of tread and used up 1/4in in 6000 miles on the inner half. the outer half is still sitting pretty at 1/2in of tread.

by chance, is there a way to fix the problem with the current tires?

That really sounds like an alignment issue and I would have thought negative camber. Maybe check your ball joints and tie rods to see if they could be worn out and maybe causing the issue.

yea .. i thought it was an alignment issue too. there are no weird vibrations when driving down the highway. vehicle accelerates and brakes straight.

do lifted rams have different alignment specs from stock?

what do worn ball joints and tie rods look like?
either way, is it likely to have them worn the same amount on both sides? because the tires have identical wear for driver and passenger sides.

I believe if you jack the front of the truck up and put one hand on the top of your tire and one hand on the bottom of your tire and rock it up and down to test your ball joints. If there is a lot of wiggle room then its time for new ball joints.

Tie rods would be the same procedure only with hands on the left and right sides of the tires.

did you buy the truck new or used? did you put the lift on it?

bought it used. with 8k miles on it. the lift came with the truck. lift is all mopar parts. i'm pretty sure it was installed at the dealership when the first owner purchased the truck new.

could the dealership that checked my alignment just suck?

i would def. try a different place for the alignment. Something in the front end is out of spec

yea. i'm an idiot for not having someone else check it when i knew something was wrong down there. i'll get on that.

for my own knowledge....
lifted trucks have the same alignment as stock trucks right?
does anyone know where i'd find stock alignment specs? maybe something i can compare with the new alignment so i can feel better about the job.

Get the shop to give you the print out of the specs, they will have to stock spec on there along with how far yours is out. Make sure you take it to a shop that knows about lifted trucks and a laser adjustment instead of the old school mirror and light setup.
