I have a 2012 Ram 1500 4x4 bighorn. I've been looking to level out the front of the vehicle. I'm thinking about going to the HBS 2.5'' level.. I found a few ppl with a 2.5'' level were running 35x12.5x20 federal couragia mts with no issues. Do ya'll think I could maintain my stock wheels with this setup or do i need new wheels with a negative offset, to avoid any rub?

Thanks...

I had a 2" level with 35's and 20x10's with a -12 offset. Rubbed at full lock on the fender splash guards. I put on pro comp pro runners that leveled me at 2.75. No rubbing

those tires will rub with stock wheels. 1/4" spacers might pushe them out far enough

Well, i'll probably just go with a negative offset wheel then... what do ya'll think about wheel spacers? i've heard good and bad comments on them..

I would tell you that if you that after a year and a half your stock shocks are almost certainly shot. I swapped my rears out at about 25K and it was clear they had been done for a while. Just food for thought.

This is without the level I was wanting to keep chrome look as it's mostly white and chrome however got to thinking some black with the white and chrome wouldn't look too bad ordered black nerf bars

Nice looking truck! It looks great with the black mixed in to the white and chrome. Some wheels I looked at were chrome and black and I thought with a mineral grey truck and chrome it'd look pretty good. Heck I even found the fuel full blown wheels that are black with some machined areas. They look good too.. I may try for those.

I went with the Bilstein 5100 adjustable's. I've have many sets of twin tubes and they all turn out to be crap no matter what brand. So, I went with the 5100's because they are mono tube. Actually I would have gone with Fox if I had known they existed at the time. In fact I did put Fox on the rears. But I love my Bilsteins. They have a fantastic ride.

I hear a lot of ppl talking about the bilsteins. I'm gonna check into those... What's the max ride height on those? If you lift the front, do I need to replace the rear too?

For your 2012 2.8 is no prob. No need to do anything to the rear except that your stock rear shocks are no doubt done. You may want to check them.

I'm assuming that you're referring to stock shocks in general?.. I've got all week off work, so i'll check them... Thanks for the heads up. :favorites13:

Just undo the bottom mount on on of the rear shocks. Push It up. If it doesn't want to rebound then it is done. You can count on all four being the same way. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I had a 2" hbs level for two years. My front struts were shot. The ride got so bad. Pro comp pro runners on now. Honestly should of went that route from the begining

Mono tube over twin tube wins all day.

How are the Pro Comp Pro Runners treating you? I just looked into those and I'm practically sold on em. How well do they handle loads/hauling?

I just put an HBS 2" kit on my 2014 Big Horn. It leveled out my truck almost perfectly... only 3/4 inch difference between front and rear wheel wells. Havent got new tires yet but will probably go with something in the 34" so I can keep my stock wheels.
Here are the before and after pics

Hey bud, I know there are about a thousand choices and options available when it comes to leveling out your truck but we make a 2.5" leveling kit that is specifically designed for the 2009-2012 Ram 1500 4wd models only and it typically will get the truck dead level (unless you have more rake than 2.5"). Here is a link to our kit 2009-2012 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD 2.5" Leveling Kit and also here is a link that talks about the quality of our leveling kits Why Pay More? Ours vs. Theirs / Maxtrac. If you are interested please PM, email or give me a call and I would be glad to get you more info. Thank you and best of luck whichever route you decide to go. :)
