I'm running the Bils at 2.1 in the front. If I installed Bils in the rear, I need to install a spacer in the rear to compensate for the longer shock? I was under the assumption that I wouldn't need spacers in the rear when installing Bils in the rear.
Just to make sure all of you fellas are on the same sheet of music ......
#1 Bilstien 5100's in the front are the adjustable shocks for going higher for a level .
It's very important to understand that every truck is a bit different!
They all have RAKE aka ass higher than the front ....
Some have 1" some have as much as 3.5" !
So to level with bilsteins 5100s you first need to take measurements of YOUR TRUCK .
The bilsteins 5100 's are a great shock , they are adjustable as follows ....
Lowest setting is stock
#2 is .7" above stock , if you are bad with math that's about 3/4"
#3 is 1.4" above stock
#4 is 2.1" above stock
AND FINALLY
# 5 Is 2.8 " above stock .
The rear bilstiens are NOT ADJUSTABLE! !
They are just a great shock , better than oem IMHO .
Moral of the story is if you are after a level , measure your ( individual ) truck on a level surface and install the bils accordingly ...
Hope this helps !
Edit ☆☆☆☆
Some folks like myself add a rear coil spacer above the rear coils to obtain a bit of rake for looks or functionality . In my case I added spacers to the rear so I didn't sag in the back so much ( creating a nose high situation ) when I'm pulling my boat or hauling item in the bed .
