I'm doing the Bilstein's on Monday along with 275/65/20 Cooper AT3's. I did the rake measurement, I ended up with a difference of 2 1/2" on the left and 2 3/4" on the right. Anyone go 2.8 and wish they went 2.1? Anyone go 2.1 and wish they went 2.8?

I had them at 2.1 and felt it was nose high but it settled.

you could go with them at 2.8 and get a 1" rear spacer and replace the rear shocks with bilsteins too. I have read a lot of members say they wish they had changed the rear shocks to bils sooner.

I did 2.1. Truck has about .5 inch of rake. If i hook up my boat or haul anything the back drops about 1 inch and looks slightly nose high. I plan on installing a 1 inch rear spacer in the future. I personally wouldn’t go 2.8 without a rear spacer.

I changed all 4 and it makes a huge difference. I set the front at 2.1. Now on dirt roads when you hit the bumps and washboards it doesnt get sideways. They improve the ride tremendously!

I just did mine last week at 2.1. Appearance looks to be perfectly level, have not physically measured though. I'd guess 2.8 w/o rear spacer would look nose high.

Thanks guys. I probably should have stated that I don't tow anything and other than the occasional load of mulch or topsoil I don't haul anything to speak of.

I would’ve been nose high just at 2.8. I put Icon rear 1.5” coil springs in the back. There’s a slight rake but nothing extreme like it was before.

Do you do coilovers on the front or just the 5100s with 2.1?

I went with 2.1 on my truck and a 3/4'' rear spacer and I love the look. Originally the 2.1 put me at 1/2'' of rake and although it looked nice, I couldnt get over how the back end looked like it had a heavy load in it. So I went with a 3/4'' TGC spacer. There is a little more rake now (1.25'' to 1.5'') and I went with 275/65/20 tires also and I think they look perfect. If I wouldve went 2.8 I think the tires wouldve looked too small and would've definitely needed a bigger spacer to achieve the look I wanted

Can you post some pics? I have the same setup as you, however, I still have to install the TGC spacers :) For tires, I'm debating between the 275/65/20 and the 305/55/20. I totally agree with you. I have about .5" of rake, but it looks like I have a heavy load in the bed.

Ill try to snap a few after work for you. Honestly, I am in love with it. The spacers in the back got rid of that saggy look and the front still looks lifted. They were really easy to install also. I had never lowered an axle before and did the whole thing in about an hour. For tires I was so set on going with 35s for the longest time and I finally decided to settle on the 275/65/20s (34'') and I think they look perfect for it. I do kind of wish I could've gotten a wider tire but I only have stock 20x8 rims so my options were basically 275/65 or the 305/55 you are considering. I personally wanted tire height over width. 305/55s wont be any taller than your stock tires. Just wider.

Hey everyone, new to the site but I've been viewing for quite some time. I'm on my 3rd Ram in the past 21 years and I just ordered Bilstein 5100s for the front. I'm sitting at 37 1/2" in the front and 39 1/8" in the rear. What setting should I be on to keep about 1/2" of rake? Thanks in advance for your help.

Here she is. Pictures don't really do it justice. Best pics I could take with it getting dark so early.

Settings are Stock, 0.7, 1.4, 2.1, and 2.8. I think 1.4 is gonna put you less than 1/2" of rake. And .07 will put you over 1/2" rake. I went with 2.1 and did a spacer in the back because I wanted more rake. IMO it's kinda pointless to put bilsteins in lower than 1.4. But that's just me. My advice is if you don't want much lift and 1/2" of rake, go with 1.4 and if you don't have enough rake then throw a half inch spacer or so in the back. They're pretty cheap.

Thus is exactly what it will look like with 2.1, 20x10 -24, 285 65. Just got mine life's. No rub no cut.

2.1" setting and while looking at the truck it's pretty dead on level.

If I were to do it again I'd go 2.8" with the Mevotech UCA and and a 1.5 inch spacer in the rear.

I have read that my Outdoorsman has a heavy duty suspension and the settings are more confusing when installing the 5100s due the the stock fronts. Again, I am at 37 1/2" in the front and 39 1/8" in the rear. Has anyone had experience with Bilsteins on the Outdoorsman? If so, where do my settings need to be to leave around 1/2" of rake?

I just put the 5100’s on yesterday at 2.8 and ended up about an 1/8 of an inch nose down. I waffled back and forth between 2.1 and 2.8. I had about 2.5 inches of rake between the front and the back. I took them to a local shop in Tempe to have it done and the way I figured it was if I ended up nose up and didn’t like it then instead of paying someone to readjust I would just pay to put on the 5100’s on the back with a spacer. I am extremely happy with them. I haven’t driven it enough to say it’s a better ride yet but the one thing I did notice is that it is much smoother over the speed bumps in my neighborhood. I am going to let them settle for a bit but am seriously considering putting the Bilsteins on the back anyway just because of the ride but am going to wait and see if I want to go with the spacers or without. My only guess right now as to why I only ended up with about 2.4 out of the 2.8 setting is because I reused the factory springs which are a couple years old. Wish I would have leveled it sooner.
