Hey all. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a leveling kit and 3" body lift and then lastly some wheels. I already have the stock 20" wheels but was thinking of some 20x9 with 295/60 tires.

Was talking to my neighbor and he was saying that will crush my mpg being my daily work truck. That was something I hadn't even thought about. I have the hemi 6 speed, not sure which rear.

Do those mods make a big impact on gas mpg?

Higher profile will make some of a difference. The heavier wheels and tires will be the biggest impact.

My guess is a loss of 1-3mpg. But I'm not 100% on that just bc I don't know much about the hemi 6 speed.

I got that exact same set up on my 11 an the lifts weren't bad but the tires were the killer! I got 295 60 20 trail grapps. The big factor is the rolling resistance these tires added. I live in the rolling hills of P.A. So my g/m was **** to begin with now it's down around 13 mpg ish. You can really tell the truck is working harder with these tires. It shifts a lot more now. But I freaking love them I didn't buy a full size 400 hp truck for better gas mileage!

I have a 11' with a 6" suspension lift on a 3" bl with 35" terra grapplers and I'm getting 13.9 mpg

The tires are what'll drop your mpgs, but like they said, you didn't buy a half ton pick up for "good gas mileage"

2011 2500 megacab hemi I'm running 275/65/20 duratracs I'm still getting decent mileage 16mpg no problem on the highway. Not too bad at all for a big truck. So I would go for it and do it.

Cool deal, yeh I don't mind around 13 mpg, I used to get around that out of my modded Titan and it was bearable. My neighbor scared me though when he was talking about one of his old lifted Jeeps and said he averaged around 9mpg lol.... I was like wow that's Hummer H2 miles there.

unfortunately any change will effect your mpg's. When you lift you are changing the geometry of the truck. When you add bigger tires you are adding unsprung weight.

sad truth is if you are worried about mpg's don't mod. You did buy a big heavy brick on wheels so don't expect too much

I have 295 60 20 trail graps and a 2" level/1.25" body lift on 20 x 10 with -24 offset. I can get around 13.9 on highway. Average around 12.5

The way the 3.55s are and on 35s the truck is revving higher to keep the vehicle over 65. If you keep it down to 55 that will put you in a good range for 15 mpg. I get better mileage on my 37x14s terra grapplers than I did with my 35x12.50 toyo MT. The new rim and tire set up dropped me around 6 lbs on each corner and because I'm traveling more distance with every tire rotation I'm able to cruise at 60-65 and my rpms are in the same range to get decent mileage as they were with the 35's at 55. If you are concerned with mileage I would get an AT. The bfg ta ko's are the lightest I have seen.
