So the other day out of nowhere I noticed a clunking sound coming from the front end of my truck when I would make turns at full lock such as turning into my driveway, pulling into a parking space, etc. After some investigating I found the worn down grooves in my lower control arms. I will not be able to get my truck into a shop for at least two weeks so I wanted to post and see if anyone on the forum has any insight into what could have caused/be causing the issue. I have attached some pictures of the actual damage.

This picture is blurry but this shows what the arm is rubbing against to cause the wearing

I don't know if my explanation will help, but when you turn your truck tilts to one side. Say if you're turning "right" into a parking space your truck will tilt "left" extending the passenger suspension which is probably just enough to for the spindle to hit the control arm. I have the same marks on mine with a level, I've seen it on many trucks with lifts, I think it just comes with lifting. I get the clunk every day as well so you're not alone, hopefully someone will chime in that has a fix because I've just grown to live with it and try not to hit full lock.

Thanks SilverStreak88. Your description was helpful. It's not an easy topic to research but I was pretty much wondering if it was just something common that I can learn to live with. I can deal with some clunking as long as I know it's not dangerous or detrimental to the truck

My 2012 Ram 1500 with a 4" RCX lift had the same issue.

I trimmed a little piece off the knuckle where it was hitting against the lca. so it wouldn't hit it as rough.
