Hey y'all I installed some off-road winch bumpers on my truck. Both installs went well but I lost two inches up front and one in the back. I have a 6" RC kit installed. Wondering what struts and/or springs would make a good but inexpensive upgrade to the stock front struts in order to increase load capacity.

Factory is prolly around 70 to 90#. Front one is 198# + 70# winch. Rear was prolly about 125#.

Bilsteins struts will give you up to 2.8". Or spring for some Fox Coilovers from BDS, pricey thoug.

Thanks for the tip! Ive seen them. I also saw Rough Country has struts that are made to be used with a 6" lifted ram for $240 shipped. Idk which would be better.

The problem is the weight- The kits are all made for " stock weight" - I would reach out to a reputable shop and get their input - Like cjc off road in longbeach ca - They deal with a lot of hd trucks and some 1/2 tons- they may have a solution for you.

If you spent that much on bumpers don't cheap out on Bilstein's. Buy a nice coilover. You may even want to build Kings with a heavier spring for the weight of the bumper.

They're the Go Rhino BR5 front and BR10 rear. I really like how they look too. They're actually 2013+ set and my truck is a 2011 :-]

Unfortunately, upgrading the front end suspension was an unforeseen expense I am having difficulty compensating for. That said, the RC struts are more expensive than the bilstein 5100s. I'm leaning towards them at the moment because they are advertised to be made specifically for trucks lifted 6 inches. I'll check out King though. Haven't really settled on anything conclusively yet.

I agree!

I browsed all over before settling on these. Except for ADD, nobody else made off-road bumpers that piqued my interest for the 2009 to 2011 ram 1500s. None looked as nice as the Go Rhinos. There were a few that came close, but they were 300#+ pre-winch and upwards of $2,000. I took a leap of faith buying these with no real assurance they could be mounted or even fit. And there were a few surprises when mounting them. These two cost me $1,500 + $180 freight shipping to my door step.

The height isn't the issue - It's the weight - Talk to a shop and verify this will solve ur issue.. when I say a shop I don't mean a lift manufacture- as they may tell you anything. Let us know.

I agree. I just don't know what to do that won't break the bank. I called a local shop who works with custom trucks. It's been two days and I still haven't heard back from him but he said he wanted to look into replacing the front springs as well. I tried but I can only find lift springs. I can't find anything that would increase load capacity up front. Furthermore, I don't understand how any of the model trucks used by these manufacturers can bare such loads with stock or lifted suspension.

Well... confession time: I never called anyone. I kept doing some digging and decided to order the RC N2.0.... they arrived today.... I unpackaged them and gave them a good once-over. They appeared eerily similar to my existing struts. And upon closer inspection.... I apparently have the RC N2.0 struts, installed professionally mind you... so I think it's safe to say the bumpers have to come off. I've searched up and down the net for a solution and I can't find anything affordable. I'll give these guys a call tomorrow as a last ditch effort.
