I have installed the HBS 2.5 leveling kit on my 2013 dodge ram 1500 4x4 a year ago. I have put 15,000 miles on the leveling kit so far. I'm at 20,000 miles on my truck today. Today I noticed the Upper Ball Joint seemed as if its starting to pop out of place. I understand the leveling kit causes stress on the angle to the upper ball joint.

1) Once they start to pop does that mean the ball joint needs to be replaced?

2) If I remove the leveling kit, will the ball joint sit correctly or will the ball joint still need to be replaced?

Thanks in advance!

Removing the lift won't un-pop your ball joints, unfortunately. At this point, I'd say just go ahead and order new upper control arms. If you can jack up the truck and move the wheel up and down, then that's a sure fire way to tell. Side to side would indicate steering linkages (Just a cheap trick).

I'm sure someone will chime in and tell you to push them back into place, but are you willing to risk your truck or safety just to save $100? I ain't.

Aftermarket UCA's or a pair of OEM UCA's from a 9-12 truck would do the trick.

Buy a 2500 is a good suggestion. This lift/level kits basically make the trucks sit like a factory 2500. When buying a new 1500 vs a new 2500 Hemi the price isn't that different and you don't have to worry about suspension issues. New wheels and your done! Really wish I had gone that route!

I love how the new 2500 sits. I look everyday for a good deal but I cant find anything in my budget.

Now I really want a 2500 lol. I still have many years ahead of me to buy one. I bought my ram a year ago on my 21st birthday for 27k. I will keep waiting for a good deal.
