How long does it take for Bilstein's to settle in to final ride height? When my 4" lift and Bils @ 1.4 were all installed, she was dead level at 43.5" in all 4 corners.

I just took the truck back for its 500 mile retorque on the lift kit.

Good question.

Just had my Bils installed about 500 miles ago as well. No lift kit.

Does anything on the Bils need to be retorqued or adjusted after a while? My shop did not say anything.

Mine havent moved at all from when I installed them. Remember you are installing shocks not springs. The springs on your truck have already carried your truck for some time now. Any compression to be had has been done.

Many people on here claim that Bilsteins settle down to a slightly lower height after a short while. It's pretty well known.

A shock does not hold a vehicles weight so they shouldn't settle at all.

I understand what you are saying.... but trust me, I've been reading every Bilstein thread in this forum for at least 3 months now. Many people report a "settle in" period after installing them. They will lower from the initial install height. C'mon.... someone back me up here...

Agreed it's a shock not a spring

Yep. I have read many of posts regarding the infamous settling as well.

But I have not read how much anywhere. Hope you get an answer.

If your truck was brand spanking new fresh out of the factory and on that day you installed bilstien's or fox's or any other brand shock, then they might settle. Might, but highly unlikely. Again, the spring has already sagged all its likely going to. Wherever you put them at, if its looks too tall, guess what. Take them off and lower them a notch.

I put front bilstein shocks set at 2.1 about 9k miles ago. Nothing has changed with the measurements.

Now I am no engineer but I like to use my brain every now and then. When you put Bils on you compress the spring tighter then when you got the spring from the factory, as Bilsteins pre load the springs to increase the ride height.

So in theory, after the spring was compressed tighter it may "settle" within it's new compressed state

My ride height has-stayed the same since I install those shocks.
