I have a quote from a local shop for a 4" rough country lift installed for $2000. Is this a good price. Another shop an hour away would do it for $1875 but they want my truck for 2 days and I would have to make more arrangements to get picked up. What are your thoughts on price?

Is that just labor or for the lift to? If it's for both that sounds about right. I would go with the local shop in case you have issues in the future they can help you out.

Typical around here is kit cost then 800-1000 for install so that seems good. However if you can swing a little extra you may look at zone. Having the rear lifted with coils is much nicer than spacers.

Get a few buddies over . Fill up the beer fridge and bolt it on! There's a YouTube video on that kit. I watched it. He only took like 15 minutes. Took me about 7hrs and a case of beer.

$1200 labor to install my 4" BDS kit. Sounds pricey, I know. I got 3 quotes and they were the highest, but also had the most experience. They lift 40 RAMs a year for 3 dealerships.

I actually have the same question about my quote, not trying to steal your thread but this seems like the perfect place to put it. I got quoted at 2800 and 3000 for a 6" zone kit, install, and alignment. Seems significantly more pricey...

If you got the tools then consider doing it yourself. If you have concerns about difficulty or whatever, don't worry about it. There are youtube videos and instructions for reference.

Lift kits aren't that hard to install, just devote a whole day to the project. I would consider a slightly higher end lift kit than rough country if it's in the budget though.

If that includes the kit, installation and alignment, that is very reasonable.

I was recently quoted $2500 for the BDS 4in installed with alignment. I thought that was reasonable. My only hang up at the moment is that my stock size KO2s are still really new...

That's a hell of a deal! Lift install time is qouted at 8-10 hrs labor. So, if you can find a shop that's 45/hr like this guy did, you're set!

It's a good shop. They do the lifts for a dealership in town. They did good work no problems.

So guys, I contacted the shop that quoted me at 2800$ and I asked them if I could add bilsteins and different UCAs(being ordered by me so literally just need to be put on) and they added another 4.5 HOURS onto the install and another 540$. This seems absolutely LUDICROUS because aren't they going to have all those components removed anyway? They literally just need to put them back in instead of the stock parts ?????

Yeah, that's definitely on the high side. I think anywhere from 500-1000 is pretty reasonable. I paid $750 for install on my RC lift when I was in South Carolina.

Yeah, I definitely chose experience over price. One quote I had was $500, but they specialized in body work and had done very few lifts. Second quote was $900, and they had lifted a total of 20 trucks.

I figured I just spent $40k on this new truck, I'm not going to save a few bucks and sacrifice a quality job. These guys I used do this stuff in their sleep. No regrets.
