Just purchased my 7" Maxtrac lift and I'm sitting here like:

Btw - www.maxtracstore.com has the best price I could find...$1,476 for the 7" Front 4.5" Rear (3" cool, 1.5" spacer) with Bilstein shocks + save 10% on orders over $100 + free shipping = $1,329 out the door.

For that kit, under $500 with alignment.

Providing this for sake of comparison: AllOut Offroad and another local shop here in DFW quoted me the following:

Local Shop: $560 out the door
1) lift install (7" front 4.5" rear)
2) install the Mevotech UCAs I'm supplying
3) provide and install Carrier Bearing Spacer kit (PN 612400 - $42; local shop has extra kit they're giving me for free as part of the deal)
4) alignment

The price I got from AllOut was $650ish; not including the additional part that the local shop is giving me for free. So looking at +/-$700 out the door through AllOut Offroad; which is obviously a bigger vendor than the local shop. Both are experienced and both offer the same labor/install warranty.

I didn't know 1500's had 2-piece drive shafts? I thought only 2500's did. Which models have that?

I thought so as well; apparently only something like 1% of trucks have them. They're more common in the HD lines and long bed trucks; neither of which is my truck. Really weird.

Edit: so basically this means a driveshaft mod is potentially in my future.

Preventative upgrade, really. It's only $80 more to beef them up from stock. Upgrading the UCAs is pretty common among guys running the 7" kit...absolutely necessary? Probably not.

They don't.

IDK why people run them on 2wds, there's no suspension gain.

They are just beefier, but the stock UCAs are perfectly fine for any 2wd application.

Agreed with Sausec. I just see it as smarter to replace them with a longer-lasting upgraded part while it's all broken down versus doing the breakdown and install when the time comes for them to be replaced down the road. I couldn't really rationalize skimping on the $80 for increased peace of mind on a +/- $2K mod anyway haha

To all he guys/gals with the Maxtrac 4.5" lift, do you wish that you went the 7" lift instead! Does the 4.5" look lifted high enough! Just curious, I can't seem to make up my mind!

I'm leaning more towards the 4.5" lift, but I haven't saw a truck in person lifted with the 4.5" lift. I'm also trying to figure out the wheel off set as well! I don't really like the when the tires stick way out past the fender. I'm looking at the Black Fuel Mavericks 20x9 with 275/65-20 Nitto Trail Grappler G2's.

I have a picture on here right after I did mine and I have the 4.5 and I like the way it looks I'll have rims and tires on it Monday and the are 20" with 35" tires , the rims will have a -12 offset.

I was as well but then took a long look in the mirror and knew deep down that once I added some lift the bug would latch on and eventually I would want more. So I nipped it in the bud and went with the 7". A guy at my gym has the 4.5 with some beefy rubber underneath and it looks real good though...plus he still fits in a parking garage.

I've about decided on the 4.5", if later I want more lift I can always add the front 2.5" Maxtrac coils!, all that's left now is to make sure in the wheels and tires.. I hope I don't crazy trying to figure that part out. The whole wheel offset is what I really had to figure out.

I ordered my wheels and tires from extreme customs and the guy there said that my set up would look perfect for what I had[emoji106]
