Ok, so i am wanting to lift or at least level my truck. I am really wanting a 4in lift, but a i can live with just a leveling kit. I notice that some lift kits say they do not recommend installing on vehicles with AWD. if i level i will do with the Bilsteins.

I emailed rancho and this is their response "Unfortunately, no due to the front driveshaft rotating at all times on this vehicle, the angle that the driveshaft will be at with a leveling or lift kit installed could potentially create vibration concerns at higher speeds. We apologize for any frustration or inconvenience that this may have caused."

i spoke with a shop near me and they were not aware of this issue and did not think that the AWD would make a difference. is there any hope of my dreams coming true?

Auto 4wd and AWD are two different things. As far as I know they don't any Rams AWD so I'm assuming yours if 4wd with the auto option. If that's the case, you will have no issues with a lift kit

AWD is power to all 4 wheels all the time. Auto is 2wd until the computer senses slipping. You can't turn off AWD on most vehicles but you can turn off auto 4wd

4 auto is not all wheel drive brother. :)

4 auto is a feature that allows a driver to drive their truck on dry pavement in 4wd. The computer senses when the 4wd should kick in (hence 4 auto) and will usual take place when the rear tires lose traction.

I usually use this feature during a heavy rain or if I suspect possible black ice on a back road I frequent in winter.

Lift your truck brother and don't worry about your components. tons of people run bilsteins set a 2.1 on their truck, including me, without issues :). If you lift, check out Zone Suspension, very popular for our trucks and on this forum.

Do a forum search for the "everything bilstein mega thread" if you decide Bilsteins.

I'm pretty sure that RAM doesn't make an AWD truck. You can get 4WD or 2WD.

I know i am late to the party, i lost my invitation. My avatar is my 2004 ram 1500 AWD, leveled with stock torsion keys 20x10 rims with 35x12.5x20 AMP MT's. I am wondering if anyone has successfully put a 4 or 6 inch kit on an AWD without issues and has had it for a while? If so, what kit did you get? Thx

Um... two many wrongs blue man .. you just broke the 4th gen section-
It’s a damn unicorn!!
So if ur ram is 2nd or 3rd gen you will have better luck posting in that section. From the little research I did in the last 3 minutes “ google is my friend” you can’t lift that truck.. the one that is actually AWD. Congratulations .. you found a unicorn lol. I had no clue Ram ever made a “AWD truck” - Learn something new every day...

To the O.P what year is your truck??
