Plan to lift your 1500? Look at a 2500 gasser?

So I purchased my 2012 1500 with 5.7 Hemi and 3.55 gears, (planned to re-gear. I knew I wanted 35s and a mild lift. So I did just that. Spent $2600 parts & Labor to get my truck how I wanted. Fast forward a few years and I got the chance to make a few thousand off my 1500 and made a good buy on my 2015 2500 with 5.7 Hemi and 4.10 gears. Okay, here's the part that made me feel like sharing this. I spent $99 on a leveling kit and did the install myself, and it sits at 43 1/2" up front and 43 3/4" in back on the same size BFGs as my 1500. With a 5" lift my half ton was at 42 1/4" in front and 43 1/4" in back. Also, a 6" lifted 1/2 ton sits about the same size as my leveled 3/4 ton. My 2500 is much better suited for 35s and can pull and haul much more, it doesn't have MDS which I like and gets me a little better mpg than my 1/2 ton. I paid almost exactly the same price on both these trucks. Just thought I might share

well, if your #1 goal is to run 35s I guess this makes sense. in the long run the 2500 might be cheaper!

Does the 6.4 2500 have a solid front axle?

If they ever make one with IFS i'm all over it. I know all the reasons not too but solid front axles and my 2 mile dirt (read rock) drive way make for one helluva bumpy ride. Awesome comparison pics, man.

I hope they never switch to IFS lol. The solid axle is one of the main reason I'd buy a gasser 2500 over a half ton

The high pinion AAM 10.5 axle is a big reason why I wanted to go to a 3/4 ton coming from an 01 Off road edition that had a trussed Dana 44506c85f042d8008163636b6f5c12eace.jpg

I'm glad that straight axle is under my 2500. I know it's a bit rougher than IFS but it's easier to fix and lift!

20/20 hindsight would have just gotten a power wagon, would have ended up being cheaper lol

Totally random but Why on the bottom white ram, is the ram 1500 backwards on the door? Lol

I mirrored the image to better compare the height of the trucks lol

Wagons kept escaping my grasp, whether it was the price was too high, trade in on my truck was too low, had too many miles, was too far away, one thing or another lol. Both when I got my 2012 1/2 ton and when I got my 2015 3/4 ton. Missing 4.56s (have 4.10s), the lockers (have rear LSD), disconnecting sway bar, extra skid plates, and the winch. She's no power wagon, but she's gotten me everywhere I'd taken her... so far lol. Might do a rear locker if I felt like I needed more traction for the off road driving I do.
