There is a side with holes and a side with threads...slide the strut threads into the holes..slide the spacer threads into the mounting holes on the truck...I'm not sure sure what you are asking.

What exactly do you mean by "soft"?
More body roll in corners?
Nose diving while braking?
Not as harsh when going over bumps?

Tow things to keep in mind;
1: your truck now has a higher center of gravity, and can put more leverage on the suspension. This may require different valving in the shocks to keep the same suspension behavior.
2: if you put on taller than stock tires, you now have more sidewall, which can flex more, and can feel like it's coming from the suspension.
