Think of all the 4×8 blocks of wood you can buy for the same price..

Or find laying in your yard.

Yeah, but I would rather have a single pipe to deal with, than a whole bunch of wood bolted together.

^^^ this. It does nothing to make the jack any safer. Any raising of the jack should happen by increasing the height of a stable base rather than giving the tippy part more leverage.

Edit: real men use a handyman. ;)

There's really no good jack spots on my truck for a hi lift.

My tow hooks are kinda inside my bumper and the hi lift jack couldn't reach them, and the receiver hitch is unsafe. I then bought the wheel straps for the hi lift jack but they didn't work with my aftermarket rims.

Look at bags like the x-jacks? Expensive, but nice and stable. Rescue crews use them for that very reason. I'm just thinking about this from a safety standpoint.

I wonder how well the xjack would work in a muddy/rainy environment. Plus I have an open exhaust cutout and dual tips so if I put the hose on one, the exhaust would flow out the other 2.
