Good morning. First time Dodge owner. About a month ago I bought a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500. 4.7. 48k miles. Has a what I think is a 4 inch lift. It's a rough country lift. 35x12.50- 20s. Love the truck. The tires are wearing even all the way across. You can drive down the road and let go of the wheel and it runs straight and true. The only issue I'm having is going down crooked roads. Now I know it's not a race car and I've owned many lifted vehicles in my life and know it changes everything as far as handling and stopping. I even drove a Chevy with 44 inch tires back in the late 80s, so I know what to expect, but, this vehicle here, the front tires squall in a turn. I'm not talking about squalling taking a turn that's posted 45 MPH and taking it at 60. I'm talking about a turn posted for 45 MPH and taking it at 30. It's bad. You go in a right hand turn and the right front tire squalls and a left turn the left front tire squalls. I've jacked it up and the ball joints and tie rods are tight. Tires are wearing great so I didn't think it could be an alignment issue. What to try next. The tires are a 10 ply federal couragia with 40 pound. Thank you for any help or suggestions.

Welcome GRT.... i just ordered those tires... 90 percent of the reviews I have read online were positive... I did find some negative posts but most where few years old.. mostly prior to their supply change.. even on amazon they are 4/5 stars

Demon does have a point however about lowering your PSI.. Seems a softer tire would cure that

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to try lowering the pressure and try that. I'll let you know tomorrow. Hope it cures it. I hate going around a turn and people in their yard are looking at me lol

Yep I'd drop it down to about 28-30 psi. I don't think the tpms will trigger Untill 26 psi , if you have sensors installed . Can't remember the tpms trigger , but I know last winter I got a low pressure warning @ 24 psi when I cranked up one morning when it was -7° , my other 3 tires were at 28 psi.

Ok. I went and dropped all 4 down to 32 psi. My TPMS went off and low tire warning came up and said inflate to 40. Just for ***** and giggles I went for a road loop and it definitely fixed the tire squall problem. It'll hold a turn now with no noise but can't seem to find any fix online for the TPMS warning. I may try to inflate to 40 and drop down to 35 and see if that keeps it off. Not sure what the threshold is but I know the computer doesn't like 32, but I do. I'd live with it if the dang alarm and orange light wasn't driving me nuts already.

There is a TPMS reset thread in the 4th Gen Heavy Duty section that might help you with the TPMS low pressure threshold.

yea i think you went way to low.. from 40-32 is a bit drastic... maybe you should have tried the turning dropping 2-3 psi initially... try 37-38, then 35... etc

I filled all 4 back up to 40 psi to quiet the TPMS and dropped the pressure to 35 psi. Everything is quiet and no more tire squall in a turn. I appreciate the help. Never thought that would be the problem since the truck called for 40 pound. Much appreciated. Thank you

glad it worked out man! go to the dealership, they can lower the PSI levels of your TPMS, on my 3/4 ton it would throw the light at 60 psi calling that a low tire, i changed it down to 26 psi lol
