So I've seen a couple people replace there upper control arms with heavy duty ones. whats the deal? I saw on Zone Offroads site they effect lift or I misread it. Are they worth it.

I believe most people swap them have a 13+ and have or don't want to have ball joint issues. The 9-12 don't have that issue.

Correct, in '13 they changed the construction of the UCA slightly and with levels they were popping ball joints. You can swap to pre-'13 UCAs or go with a HD version, both work just fine.

Are you a big off roader? If just moderate then mevotech makes a set that cost about $100 shipped. I've had them in after my level and work great. Do a search. Lots of guys running them. A great alternative to the expensive zone uca's. But only needed on the 13-14's.

If your truck is more than 3" of lift I would recommend the Upper arms for wheel alignment, or you are doing high speed offroad desert driving to save factory upper arms from damage. For me I use Total Chaos upper arms just because it gives smother ride with 2.5 Coilovers, factory arms are fine and didn't have any problems.
