I bought a 2014 tradesman which already had spacers installed up front. I'm not a big fan of spacers and was looking at installing the bilstein 2.1's. Currently I have a noise similar to bad sway bar links up front when hitting bumps at low speeds. The links and bushings are fine which leads me to suspect the struts. Are the bilsteins dangerous? I'd like to keep the slightly lifted look. All front end components are tight with no sign of wear.

I've had mine installed @ 2.8 for over a year and about 15K miles with no problems.

I was also skeptical about them, especially installing them myself, but I have about 500 miles on them now and I don't hear any clunks or anything. Seems completely normal, except the better ride quality. I just made sure to make sure everything was tight when I installed and I re torqued everything after I drove it a few miles. Oh, and had an alignment done right away.

My bilsteins have been installed at 2.8 for 40k miles now. No clunks no noises and stock upper control arms.

Spacers really stress out a lot of components and will wear out the upper control arm balljoints in a hurry.

No reason to be scared of Bils.............they will serve you well. Been running mine for over 23k miles. No issues what so ever.

*This is all predicated on the fact they are installed correctly. Should be a given but..............

EDIT: same as WilliamS, still running stock upper control arms at just over 62k miles. Been leveled and/or lifted for 38k

I'm in the same boat. Just bought a 2014 Express with a spacer already installed. I'm planning on swapping them out for a set of bils at 2.8 with mevotech uca's very soon. My spacers are rubbing something and making an annoying squeak/chirping sound when I drive anywhere.

If you decide to change out your struts, I would also replace the ball joints while you’re in there. I had a similar problem with a blazer I used to have. Those spacers are hard on the ball joints and you’ll have to take them apart anyway. Just a suggestion.

Can anyone recommend a beefier UCA? Michigan roads are murder on front end parts.

If you have lift, spacer or Bilsteins, Zone offroad makes a nice one but it’s $430, I have them on my truck.

If your looking for stronger stock replacements go to rockauto.com and get the mevotechs, they are forged arms and only approx $90/pair

I think most guys on here are running the Zone UCAs. Been considering them myself.

If you are going to replace the UCA”s- You might as well as get the one with better angles. The zone”s have better angles than factory and than the mevotechs. IMO there is absolutely no point in replacing what you currently have with something that is almost identical.
