'16 1500 Bighorn 4WD with 5.7L and 25k miles. There's been an intermittent rattle in the front end. Any idea where to start looking looking? I crawled around under it this evening looking at the suspension and steering components (things that I've had issues with previous vehicles in the past). Everything looked good to me.

The "thunk"/rattle occurs intermittently when going over bumps...regardless of speed. Any idea what it might be? Thanks in advance.

Do you have a lift, any suspension mods?
I had the same thing happen to my titan. Ended up being the lift spacer rattling around in the coil bucket because the shock/coilover was failing.

Thanks for the reply. My Ram is 100% stock, to include the suspension and exhaust.

Open up the hood and there should be 2 adjustable bump stops (left and right) where those stops meet the hood there should be a circular plastic vinyl piece stuck to the hood itself.

if that vinyl is missing it will cause a rattle over bumps.

this was the case with my 2012.

I popped the hood and looked around (to include shock mount), but I did not look for the bump stops you mentioned. I'll give that a look see this afternoon. Thank you.

I appreciate the offer. Hopefully it doesn't come to that. I'll just have to figure out when I'm going to be able to get it down to my dealer. They're a good bunch and are responsive, so I'm hopeful that they'll be able to address it.

My dealer is just far enough away that I've been putting off taking it in. It will probably come to that though. My dealer will give me a loaner. I don't know if the others (closer dealerships) will or if that's standard for CPO vehicles.

It was the suspension. They "relaxed" the front suspension and re-torqued it. It was good for a month or so. Taking it back in for the same issue next week.

Thought I'd post a follow-up on this (haven't been online in a while). No further issues since they adjusted the suspension ~30k miles. At 46k at the moment.
