Hi everyone. Thanx for having me. I have a brand new 2012 ram 1500 and I am getting new rims and tires. I want to go 305/55-20 Terra's but I am getting mixed reviews. So I'm trying to find out if I definatly need a leveling kit or not. And if I do need a kit are they difficult to install. I'm very handy and have rebuilt motors and worked on cars (not professionally) my whole life.
Thanx for any input!

welcome to the RF, tbh, i'd do a leveling kit, get rid of the small rake, but it'd give a little more clearance up front, and make your truck look better, but that my opinion, but thats if you want a little something, i'd try a little lift after awhile, like 3-4. beef it up. do you have any pictures of your truck?

I have a couple of pics but I don't know how to upload them because I'm on my phone doing this. Is the leveling kit difficult to install. I definatly want to do it because it looks a lot better but spending enough money on rims and tires and trying to get away without doing it for a few months.

you could probably get away with just the leveling kit and stock tires, but if you want that mean aggressive look, then go for it. there is actually a video of a guy doing a ready lift(leveling) in his garage. shows step by step on youtube.

Hey man, no probelm. go to youtube and type in "how to level a dodge ram" and it'll be the 1st one, it shows your model (4th gen) and how to do it.

you do NOT need a leveling kit to fit those tires, but you will need wheels with less backspacing than the stock wheels.

My friend has a ford with a leveling kit and 35s on his truck. It looks like there's a 3-4 inch lift. Just saying

Having just sold a leveled FX4 on 35's, there is NO way I'd go back no matter how tall it looks. Possibly the weakest truck I've owned with a full sized motor (AKA not the V6 or gas saver V8).

Out of well over 40 vehicles I've owned, this is my first Dodge truck and it is by far the best vehicle I've owned for towing (1/2 ton).

305/55's on 20/9.5 with a +13 offset and I have zero rubbing. You should be fine, I will be leveling it next week or the week after but they will fit just fine as it is.

Ignore the hand, my dad dropped by to look at it the day I brought it home and he walked in front of the camera about 10 times so I gave up.
