The headlights on my 2013 SLT suck!! I've seen similar complaints for other 4th gens. I know that the 2013 Sport comes with projection headlights. Has anyone compared these two types of headlights? If so, are the new headlights better?

Thanks.

I was gonna vote but it seems you're after better light output, not just comparing looks. IMO the '13 Sport projectors are FUGLY as try-hard eBay knockoffs, but who the hell cares what I think.
We know the projector lense quality in the '13 projectors won't be that high; you're likely going to have to retrofit some aftermarket projectors and use good quality ballasts to achieve better output.

Yea I just want to be able to see at night. The stock headlights on my truck are real bad. I've been looking at reviews for different bulbs but 1/2 the reviews say that specific bulbs are better while the other 1/2 say the same bulbs are no difference. I'm guessing the 1/2 that say they are better are looking for a whiter light and not thinking about being able to see at night.

I did a search on here and the internet and haven't found a review of the 2013 projector lights.

I don't think a single vehicle manufacturer (at least in the truck market) knows how important being able to see at night is... my 06 Ram sucks, and I have seen ongoing 'my lights suck' reviews from then all the way to 2013...

JJ @ RetroShop puts projectors in the enclosures and HIDs behind them.. and does it, from what I can see, properly... I think that's the only way to resolve the issue unless you add auxiliary lighting like I have on the front of the truck...

from what I've seen........and heard from a guy thats done the switch - the projectors aren't that much better than the regular quads. hids were dropped in, and.......he said it was much better - pics don't look bad, but they still don't impress me.

I got some pics today of the brackets I'm getting mocked up for these too. Getting closer to being able to drop in a FX-R projector in the stock '13 projector heads. Top that with some great HIDs and its on!

This would be hella-cool (catch the non-important name drop?) I have always wanted to rock FX-Rs in something, but I feel that they deserve custom laser cut bracketry etc, and I don't have the access to the gizmos to do that.

On topic with the original post, all factory lighting options suck. Which is the least sucky is a moot point. All Junk!

I'm going back off topic........lol

I'm itchin' like mad to get these done. I have been running my 50W / CBI combo in your old lights, I can't wait to see what they look like in a FXR.

I just swapped between stock quad lights, JJ retro lights, and 2013 projector lights. JJs are definitely the brightest. I do think the stock projectors are better than the quad lights. The new 13 lights are growing on me. The LEDs are really bright and light up the street signs when I'm turning :) I do think that the OEM lights fit better than the TYCs if you're ultra **** like me.

Anyone happen to know what they charge for the factory projectors? Also, will they simply plug into the stock harness?

Thanks.

No harness for plug and play. You have to make your own or buy the factory one and mod it. Direct fit for the housing. eBay has them sometimes cheap. I paid 800.

Hvae you considered dropping some 9005 bulbs in your fogs?
That was the single biggest improvement I've found thus far. Going from H11 to H9 for lows was a small improvement but the fogs was night/day.

I just picked up my 2013. I test drove the sport and the laramie. The projectors were the same in my opinion.

The sport has black inside the light casing where as the laramie is chrome/mirror whatever you want to call it.

Definatly not true HID that is for sure. My wifes old acadia came with the bright HID's and I had them in my last silverado. I thought my new 2013 would have been more white but they're the same old yellow.

I am fine with it though!
