2014 Laramie taillight connector release??

Hi. I have the LED taillights. I have to change one out because it has a crack and loaded up with moisture. I'll be damned if I can get the connector separated. I'm sure it's something simple but I can't figure it out. The connector has a small red plastic slide that you can move left or right. Do I have to do something with that to release the connector?

If I remember right that is the locking mechanism. Slide out and pull the plug apart.

Thanks. I was pretty sure that was it. But I played with that thing for a half hour yesterday and can't get it to separate. I'll try again today. I just hate pulling too hard. I usually wind up turning a simple problem into a catastrophe.
