This is the short bar of (3?) lights on the tailgate of the 3500. I think they look cool, but couldn't image an easy install.

I think the question is essentially if there is a connector for these on all trucks or only 3500s. I would imagine not as DRW 3500s have bulbs on the fenders as well, making at least 5 unused connectors on the 1500s and 2500s - my guess is it would be worth the bucks for Chrysler to have a separate piece of harness routing to the back.

I imagine the second question (if my first assumption is correct) would be does a 3500 rear lighting harness plug into the main harness on other (non 3500/non DRW) trucks, which is probably true, but would the lights work.

The third question is could these just be spliced into the running lights on the stock harness.

Hopefully this simplified (rather than confused) the question...

I was out looking at the truck and there are mounting holes for it. I never noticed before but they are near the spare tire hole. Keep our fingers crossed the wires are there too

i think he's talking about the amber lights, right behind the rear wheel well.

No, there is a marker/running light below the tailgate of te new 3500 dually
There's a law that vehicles over a certain with need them.
There are some 3rd gens that had them on the tailgate itself, the had holes for them

OP it would probably be cheaper and easier to just get an LED taillight bar

Sage your correct its the three red lights I'm looking for a pic now.

I thought about just going aftermarket but i like to keep it as oem as possible. The light itself was 70 but it will look good. Give me a few ill have a pic.

JP all trucks one ton and over have them. Its a federal law. The light itself should be here next week.

Yep - I have a picture I'll post in a couple minutes... the lights are visible just above the license plate frame:

I believe on the Gen 2 Duallys, these were actually mounted on the tailgate.

I like how these look - might put them on my truck

Let us know if they plug into the harness or if you're forced to splice...

The roof panels are different IIRC between the 1500s and the 2500+. There isnt a good way to secure the lights on the 1500 so it doesnt leak. The 2500+ roofs have inserts or nuts so the lights have something to grip besides just the sheetmetal. Lwast Thats what I was told by all the dealerships and truck places locally...

I am interested in seeing how the rear clearance lights go. Keep us posted!
