This is my first time posting. I have only ever read them and with that being said i know how crazy people get if they post in the wrong place and stuff like that. If i am doing this wrong please correct me and some guidance would be greatly appreciated. With that out the way. I own a 2016 ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.7 hemi. I have decided to go with the bds 6" lift and the fox 2.0 shocks. My question is to go with 35x12.5x20 which is the standard everyone has lift, or do I go with the 37x13.5x20. I want the 37s but I'm afraid that is too much tire for a 1500. I know the gearing is a factor but with 392 and an 8 speed I figured it could handle that just fine. If thats incorrect please let me know. I know i will be hurting with gas milage but here is a list of my questions if i go with 37.

1. Will the drive/ride be changed dramatically
2. Will the secondary parts wear out faster? brackets, steering system, powertrain, or anything else y'all can think of.
3. If i get bags put on it will I loose my tow rating because of the lift and tires
4. Will that lift and tires void any warranty
5. Will i need to change out the gearing
6. If their is anything else I'm missing please inform me.

Thank you for your help in advance.

IMO , it's to much tire. I've got toyo MT 35's, 15x12.5x20, and i get 11-12MPG, any larger and i'd likely die from an empty wallet. My six inches is really closer to 7, and the 35's look phenomenal, I don't really like the idea of a squished up fender, and I think 37's might give you that.

1. Not really, i don't notice it anyways.
2. If you get those items replaced with a proper lift, not really. If not, likely so. I've had no issues tho :)
3. Yes, the weight from the tires / lift components will lower your GVWR / payload
4. Yes, but only parts that break because of the lift and tires
5. No, you don't, these 8 speeds are extremely good at fixing any issues. I have 3.21's, and I'm happy as a peach
6. Towing, you're going to basically have a truck that can't tow :( At least, anything heavy. What did you have in mind for weights ?

I have a 1500 with a bds 6" lift and Toyo 37x13.5 tires. It did take a lot of inner wheel well trimming to stop the rubbing for off road use.If just used on road minor trimming works.Mileage is 11 -12 average with 3.92 grears.Truck rides and handles very good. The lift and tires where installed by the dealer and covered by warranty. Have not towed anything yet.

You're fine on actual weight, but I'm suspecting your payload is going to be affected a bit more than you think.

Find out the following.

Door sticker gvwr , then find out how much you weigh after the tires /lift.

Using mine as an example, I weigh 6150 loaded up with me in it. I have a gvwr of 6900 that only leaves me with max tongue of 750, then I'm over my gvwr. That doesn't even account for my kids dog and toys in the bed. I have airbags so I'm level but I'm over my payload by about 300-400 pounds. I am however under my rawr (rear axle rating of 3900 pounds).

Because of my bags I chose to go by my rawr instead of my payload. That's frowned upon, but it's semi "ok".

I have a lone star, so if you have a higher trim your weight might even be higher than mine

I just recently had to get new tires and I was questioning going down to 35's......soooooo glad I didn't.

I just recently saw a lifted sport....about the same height as me with 35's and I pulled up next to him....they looked soooo small.....at least to me.

Gearing....you will be perfectly fine. Yes, mpg will take a hit.

Good luck.

Edit: after lookin at joeygster's ram, I had to add....35's with 4"lifts look awesome.

35's/4" lift and 37's/6" lift....good guidelines IMO. I'm sure many of the guys rockin 35's with 6" lifts will disagree lol....oh well.

If you don't care about the fuel economy hit, the 37's look awesome.

On a side note, the Fox 2.0 shocks you're getting.....do they have similar levelling abilities as the Bilstein 2100's ?

Even with 35s, your gearing will take a hit.
There are formulas I'm sure on the internet to check out the differences.

You must have a heavy foot! I have 35x12x20's, 2.5" leveling kit and an absolutely loaded with every option Laramie 4x4 Crew Cab. I have a smartchips f5 87 octane tune and magnaflow muffler and on the highway get over 20. Right now I am at 16.4 mpg with both city and highway. More city than highway driving though.

Gearing doesn't take a hit... Gearing stays the same whether you have 15" tires or 42" tires. What I think you mean to say is shift points and speedo. Which can all be fixed with a simple tuner. But we all know you don't like tuners. lol I put 35's on mine and just re calibrated the speedo and everything is fine. I get the same gas mpg that was getting before -1.

This is a little dark, but gives an idea of 37's on a 6" lift

I'd have to agree with that last part... I would go 37's and a 6" lift but then I could also kiss my mpg goodbye. Going 4" with bils so it'll be a little higher. That being said, go for 35's if you have concerns about mpg!
