I have a 2016 CC 4x4 with the 3.6, all stock, no lift or level. The stock wheels are 17" and I'm thinking of putting on some used stock 20" (either chrome clad or alum. sport). If I go with a 60 profile, that should keep it around 33", which is close to current. I don't do any off-road, and honestly most of my driving is city.

What would the effect of having the larger wheels be on this 3.6l? Would it feel just to gutless, or would there probably be very little difference felt?

Would the chrome clad wheels be heavier than the alum. sport wheels?

Never bought wheels before, and just want a little flashier look on the wheels without breaking the bank with custom wheels.

What gear ratio do you currently have?

Thanks, I'm aware that's the stock 20" size and would be looking for a tire that size if I did go to a 20" wheel.

I guess I'm looking more for information on if the 3.6l (w/ that 3.21 gearing) would handle the 20" wheel without it feeling like a "dog" in the city. Are the older chrome clad steel wheels usually heavier than the current alloy like found on the sport model? I've seen both forsale locally, and would like to keep the weight down

3.21 will handle the 20" wheel package. Ram sells that same package from the factory. As to whether it will feel like a dog, is completely up to you. The chrome clad steel wheels are definitely heavier than aluminum.

I did the switch from 17 to 20's with stock rubber on my 5.7, 8speed Tran with the 3.21's and it feels sluggish. Would I go back to 17's? Maybe one day, for now, I'm just putting up with it.

Like minds.
I am doing the same thing as the OP and just picked up a set 20x9" Sport alloy wheels and tires to put on my 2013 1500 CC SLT v6/8sp/3.21 4x4.

Still have a few miles left on my stock 17's before I swap when out (@ 32k currently). Don't recall what the stock 17x8" tire size is at the moment m

You have the hemi and the switch from 17s to 20s feels sluggish? That sounds weird to me

Definitely lost some initial acceleration. I created a thread about it and people smarter than me explained how the added weight plus change in tire size can do this. Other's on the forum have experienced the same, don't get me wrong once the truck is going, it's a non issue, however it's the getting up to speed is where I noticed the difference from when I had the stock 17's and to now my 20's.

Make sure you get you computer flashed for the new wheel and tire size. Other wise the trans gets confused and thinks there more of a load and it won't shift into OD as much and will down shift alot.

When I had my '14 Crew Cab with the 3.6 I changed from the '17's to the 20" Sport Wheel. I also had the truck reprogrammed for the bigger wheels.
The truck had the 3.55 rear. I lost about 1 mpg, but I didn't notice much difference in power.

I have a 3.6 with 20's and a 3.21 rear end, and it's fine.

also if you get the sport silver wheels, you can buy some wheel skins in black or chrome to have the looks of whatever look you want, and they virtually weigh nothing too!

Yes, get the silver wheels. You can change those to chrome or black. The factory wheels in chrome can't be changed with skins because the chrome wheels are already skinned with a very rough finished wheel underneath.

So which are lighter? The chrome clad wheels from say 2011 sport, or the current sport wheels (16/17) which I believe are what you guys are calling the "silver wheels".

If I had to guess, I'd say the factory chrome skin wheels are lighter. They are chromed plastic covers on the outside that make them appear to be the same dimensions of the painted silver wheels. Not sure on the sport wheels, but they look heavier then the silver painted wheels (I'm not sure if they are a different metal alloy). Maybe check out a product page for OEM wheels and look at the product weight?
