I am finally about to order some hids from RetroShop. I am going with the 50w 5000k for lows and i dont know if i should go with the 50w for the fogs. Would 50w vs 35w change the output color. i would like for my heads and fogs to match in color. Also, would 5000k be white with no blue or should i go with 4300k. I am looking for all white without any blue or yellow. Thanks

It's not the watts that have to do with the color as much as the K's. A 55W 5000K is the same color as a 35W 5000k.... just 20% brighter and will decrease the bulb life the same. 20%

Talk to JJ. I'm not sure what his take is on 55's in the fogs due to the size of the housing?

It's not so much that they won't fit... it's the heat. Might be different on the 13+ style.

I run 35's in mine, and I barely use them. Only on dark or divided highways. The light pattern is so wide, I'd never run them in the city. You'll blind everyone. The light output is way brighter with HID's in the fogs than the halogens your replacing them with.

Better yet, get them retrofitted so you have some control over the pattern. The price is steep though. Do the same with the headlights if you haven't got projectors already. Take full advantage of what the HID's will do without getting flashed or trouble with the Leo's.

What about leaving them my lights on automatic? Should i turn them on manually? I believe i read something about that affecting the ballast.

Think I read that OEM HID are 4300k color temp. That is what I would go with. I think it is more natural looking color, less artificial.

For home bulbs my wife complains with any color temp above 3000k. My favorite home LED lights are Cree "natural light" at 2700kelvin

If you want clean white light, I would get 50W 4300°s.
The higher wattage can (depending on manufacture etc) wash out a touch of the color, but not much.

5K is still mostly white. I run that and it has maybe a hint of blue.

I just leave mine on auto. Sometimes at dusk I'll turn them to off as the lights will go on and off every time your light gets blocked off from buildings, tunnels or trees.

The only way I can tell they're going off and on is the radio goes dark, or if I do have my fogs on, I'll see the fog indicator and my TPMS light kick on for a few seconds.

Not a big deal. The TPMS light is normal for Dodge. The TPMS module is between the D/S head light and fog light. Well it is on my 2010. The ignition disrupts the TPMS signal for a few seconds.

Here's a low beam shot of 35W 6000K's through a M1 HID projector. No fogs on.

IMO, stick to 35w in the smaller housings for fogs. Especially since the fogs on these trucks don't seem to have much of anything for ventilation compared to other vehicles.

If you look at my thread, I'm actually seeing where my 35w kit in the headlamps may-or-may-not be discoloring the divider in my quads possibly from heat. Last thing you want to do is melt down your fog housing.

Good call.

BTW... JJ is Retroshop. He's pretty quick on responding to e-mails. Great customer service.

I didn't need or use a harness for my fogs. Then again mines a 2010 so you might want to ask him if it's needed. If so, might as well order it from him.

That way you'll know you'll be getting a product that will absolutely work on your truck.

I send a harness with everything. period.....

I always say, 35W in fogs. 50w is a LOT of light, foggies are blinding as it is. ;)
