My 2016 1500 Tradesman came stock with 17x7 steels. I bought some 17x8 rims and plasti-dipped them (until I powder coat them). I used the 265/70/17s off the stock wheels.

I want to put some taller and thicker tires on the 17x8 wheels. This is my first Ram and first truck period. I don't know a whole lot about tires, rims, or sizing. What would be a decent but cheap tire that will be taller and wider than the factory tires? I've looked a bit myself but got overwhelmed with all the sizes and measurements.

Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I believe 285/70/17 would be a 33" tire and is a more common size so shouldn't be too expensive

285/70/17 will be close to a 33" or 285/75/17 will be close to a 34". Probably your best bets. Lots of options in 285/70, including some less expensive ones. Fewer options in 285/75, they tend to be a bit pricier but still not too bad compared to anything bigger.
