Somewhere I recently saw a picture where someone painted the red and made it white. Green would defiantly be different

I think you can actually find decals on ebay that will cover them with what ever color you want. Paint would probably be better, but it would at least give you an idea of what it would look like.

Look for a product called liquid mask, you can paint the chrome around the red with it then paint the letters without having any weird tape lines, then it just peels off when the paint is dry.

You can use stickers, have a custom one made (a few treads on this active lately), plastidip, or paint.
