I have a 2016 Ram 1500 Sport 4x4 crew cab, factory air suspension with the 20" forged aluminum wheels and original rubber. I think I want to run 305/55R20 116S XL Nitto TerraGrappler G2 tires. My concern is with rubbing/damage on the highway when the truck lowers into aero mode. Also, the tires kicking up debris and damaging the paint.

I would like to hear first hand experience from anyone with 4x4 factory air suspension (no lift or level) factory 20s running 305/55R20 tires.

I tried researching this before and from what I gathered that will likely rub, especially if you have a more aggressive tire. 305 50 20 would likely be fine. Either one will likely stick out enough past the fender where you will be slinging **** all over your paint, unless you get fenders. Due to this I just got factory size with an aggressive AT tread.

OP I've searched as well... some people had rubbing, others didn't but based off tread pattern like Skubasteve was saying.

I've searched and searched and I can't find anyone that's actually tried it... I've found a few pics of 305/55R20s & forged sport wheels on stock suspension, and they don't appear to stick out too far. Your probably right though scubasteve, it could be just far enough to trash the sides of my purty new paint with road grime etc. and i don't care too much for the look of fender flares. What ATs did u go with? Pics?

Does anyone know how low aero mode drops the front end?

I have a buddy the went with that size tire but after market rims. He has no issue but offset on rims may have helped that.

I'm looking at a mud tire (cf 3000 mt) In a 33x12.50x20 for my 16 with air suspension. Hopefully there's no issue and the tires are priced right so I'll take the gamble. I have seen guys swap the links from back to front to gain some more room up front on these air trucks.(different lengths). Off Rd 2 won't work once you do it, but it's pretty much useless any way. You'll also need to do an alignment after.

Aero mode drops the front around an inch at highway speeds. Entry/Exit mode drops the front and rear 2 inches. Off-Road 1 and 2 modes raise the front and rear 1 and 2 inches, respectively. I'm running 275/65R20 Cooper ST Maxx's on my '13 Express with the factory air suspension and chrome clad 20's and the drivers side rubs just a tad in normal mode in a fully locked turn because of the way the rear of the liner protrudes slightly into the wheel well area.

Here's a thread of 305/55R20 Cooper ST Maxx's on a '14 Limited with the factory air suspension. OP said they don't rub the fender liner but do rub the sway bar slightly at full lock.

Im going with falken wildpeak at3w in stock size, they are ordered, waiting for them to arrive at my discount tire. 675ish OTD with labor day code. Cant wait. If need be, ill add an inch or so spacer, but i LOVE clean paint, so I wont let it stick out past the fender.

I've looked at that exact tire. It looks good and I love that it only weighs 50 pounds and is not e rated. It might be my next set. I would be a little worried about it trashing my paint though.

Do you have wheel spacers on this truck or is that just where they sit?

Aero mode only drops the front 1/2" and if the tires clear when turning you'll never rub in aero mode since it comes back up when you slow down and you'll never steer that hard at highway speed unless you're trying to roll the truck in which case I wouldn't worry about the tires rubbing a bit. I have 275 65 20 ridge grapplers on my 2017 lmited with factory air ride which is a pretty aggressive tread and about an inch taller than stock. Approx 34X11 and even rolling slow in entry exit mode I haven't had rubbing problems.

Your truck looks very nice with those tires. Are you running stock height air suspension? It looks like you have it leveled. Very nice looking truck.

Those are 305/55R20 right? Any rubbing? MPG decrease?
