After searching around and not really trying to spend too much money. I found a product by duplicolor for a black chrome effect.

Anyone try this on chrome clads. Looking for a more permenant black finish

Plasti dip keeps pulling out of corners and never really cleans well.

Really debating painting.

Thoughts

I mite do this, did you have to use different lug nuts? The page says you need acorn lugs... I have a 2012 sport and have NO idea if those are the right ones. I'd probably buy the center caps like you did.

I asked the seller and they said they have not heard they don't. Not sure what that means though.

Thinkin about using etching primer and black paint

I was gunna paint, but it gets messed up when they change ur tires. If these were gloss black instead of satin Id buy em now. Anyone know if its hard for the tire shop to transfer the TPMS to the new rims?

Ok. Yea i think the first gen of black rims in like 13 were matte.

Not sure if i like the matte

the first gen of black rams had glossy black wheels, it was the later years of the black edition rams that they got dumb and pulled what made the black rams cool off of them such as changing the gloss wheels to satin, removing the 8spd trans and LED lighting, and then even adding badges back to the truck...

my early black edition ram was beautiful then ram dumbed the truck down, i heard they did it because the early black edition rams were out performing the RT rams but i dont know for sure...

to the OP if you want black wheels, find someone with the silver wheels and trade them, and then for $100 get the black wheel skins, unfortunately the wheel skins wont work on chrome wheels but its another option you can look into if you want oem black wheels

If i didnt tell you that i had skins on my wheels then ypu would probably ever figure it out, they are a semi permanent option, they mount solid and are not going to fall off lol

if you remove the cladding the center caps will no longer fit, just throwing that out there
Also.. whats underneath looks dumb even powdercoated. There is a thread where some1 did it. My opinion of course.

TPMS are very easy for them to swap. They will prob recommend a rebuild kit when they do it depending on how old the original sensors are.

The trucks with the viper or the hell Cat take offs look pretty sharp.

Do you have a link or info for those wheel covers? Mine are plasti dipped and while they still look decent, after 3 years and a new set of tires they could use a touch up. I was going to just respray them in the spring but I'm thinking a decent set of covers would be easier.

you can find em on ebay for about $100 for the set of 4, i dont have any stored links but just search for dodge ram wheel skin or something like that and it should come up
