How did you guys black out your chrome hemi badge and keep the red lettering?

I've tried multiple ways. I ended up just buying the flat black badges off ebay for like 24 bucks each side.

You have to buy some black badges unless you want to get real detailed with a small airbrush. I did the top half at first, drove me nuts, bought black. I still can't get the same black all around the black badge, but close enough and can't tell unless up real close to it, such as this picture!

Haha, I've plasti dipped the badge already, I blacked out the red lettering though, I saw one the other day similar to mine with black hemi and red lettering

I figured you were going plastidip. Buying all black badges to match is not impossible, but a pain finding in all matte or all gloss.

I chose my option since I blacked out chrome bumpers, door handles, grill, flares, step rails and badges, and I wanted all of the black to match. Maybe one day I'll fork out $1500 to have it all professionally matched. The 5.7 liter half of the badge does not match, but you can hardly tell. Just buy the black 5.7 badges and plastidip the top half and you will probably be ok and it will look fine. Better than a chrome half anyway. Lol!!

I'm having a hard time finding a matte black tailgate emblem in the correct size. I can find the front grill all day and twice on Sunday kinda thing... Tailgate... Fugetaboutit... Might have to pop it off and hit it with matte black paint. Tired of touching up the plastidip

Are you having problems finding it in matte? Because I got my black tailgate emblem off eBay for about $25, there was a lot available on there

I've found a whole bunch but none of them are the size of the OEM one. At least not that I've found. If you found one that is, and still have the link, do you mind posting it for me?

Like I said, pain in the **** finding all matching. If someone made full kits gloss or black and also sold pieces separately, they would probably do good. Surprised you're having an issue with plastidip, have had mine almost a year with no issues. Just cover them when I'm waxing and all is good.

The ram badges oem are not matte they are gloss, the ram 1500, hemis, and 4x4 are matte oem

Yeah, I noticed that when looking. Even in the link provided. It's all good though. I found a tutorial on YouTube on how to de-chrome plastic using Super Clean. So along with a couple other projects for the truck this weekend I'm gonna pop the grill and tailgate emblem off, de-chrome them, and then hit them with some matte black krylon plastic paint.
