Hey everyone,
So bought some fender flares a month. I contacted a couple body shops and was quoted a ridiculous amount to have them painted at around $500-$600 IF I brought them in prepped and ready to paint.
I like doing things myself and have painted quite a few things before ( restored a 72 plymouth Duster that ended up in Mopar Muscle Magazine ) so I decided to buy the materials to paint them myself and at a fraction of the price.
On a side note, a buddy of mine picked up a ram and purchased black headlights and I helped him install them and for helping him out he gave me his factory headlights.
I decided since I am painting my flares that I would also body color the spare set of headlights aswell. I didn't bake them like most do, I used a heat gun and heated up the seems and pried the headlights apart and dissected them.
I prepped everything, sprayed with black 2 part epoxy , wet sanded , sprayed base and then sprayed clear. They came out great and put to shame most the work I see come out of my local body shops. And considering I sprayed with a lower end gun and not having a spray booth/best environment I am super stoked with how they came out.
I just figured I would share a few pictures with everyone. I will update the thread when I finish putting the lights back together and get everything installed. BTW paint is Deep water blue for those curious.
