I either don't know how to use the search function or there must not be anything recent on this... A Google search didn't show anything newer than 2011

Considering putting cab marker lights on my 09 Ram. What is the best light to go with? OEM, Recon, other?

The truck is black, wondering what looks better; smoke or amber? Post pics if you have them.

Any experiences anyone wants to pass on

Well dagum, there is a thread already going. His is more about fitting in the garage though.

He said something about problems with Recon? Anybody else? The Recons are LED which means I shouldn't have to change bulbs. how hard is it to change bulbs in the OEM ones?

I have the oem Mopar ones on my White Ram and they are amber when lit. I can't comment on the status of the Recon as I've never had the pleasure of running them.

Like I states in my other thread, I went with mopar so I could change the color of bulbs and lenses if I liked. Can't do that with recons, cause they're sealed. I would be pissed if one of those leds went out and I had to swap out the whole thing. The lense on the mopar ones are held on with 2 screws. Bulbs are incandescent, but could easily be swapped for leds. Just something to think about. Also, i think color is a personal preference. 3rd gens had orange lenses, 4th gens are clear lenses.

Hi, new to the forum and this is my 1st post, great info on here.

I have a 2014 Big Horn and just bought these cab lights (82211190) on the Mopar website and have an appointment at the dealer I bought the truck from to have them installed. I'm kinda handy, but I'm not playing around with drilling holes in the cab of my truck, so if they mess up its on them and i really don't want to hear the wife say "I told you".

When I was scheduling the appointment, the service guy said he won't know if the lights will work until he gets the truck there & taken apart due to some "module" that may or may not be on my truck from the factory. Why would these lights be available for purchase on the Mopar website after inputting my truck's VIN if they weren't compatible?

Anyone else run into this? Your feedback is much appreciated.

^^^^. Now that part I can not answer as I installed mine on my 2011 BigHorn and had no problems. Maybe since you didn't buy the lights from them, they are just ensuring they have NO liability . That's the part that ****** me off about certain dealerships. They want to sell you things and when you don't buy it from them, all of a sudden there's issues !

^^^^^That i can see happening ^^^^^
Believe it or not, when i ordered the lights online it said they were being shipped from another dealer in the area, so i went and picked them up instead. That dealer said nothing about a "module" and the cost was $180 to install them. I figured I'd go back to the dealer i bought the truck from just to be loyal, but i think they may be doing what you said above.

It's a shame as my buddy found his headlights nib for $100.00 cheaper from another dealership. Took them to his dealership who does all of his work, they installed them and said afterwards they didn't work. Pulled them back out and sent him packing with them. He came to my house and 39 minutes later all was good. Took it back to the dealership to show them, and they swore they were NOT the same lights he purchased . What the Jimmy Cricket lol...

Hi RAM_B@LLS,

If you need any support during the installation process, please let us know. The service writer might be instructed to say something like that in case the lights are not compatible (maybe he didn't realize that you purchased them from the website?)--it might be sort of a general statement.

Thanks ramcares, I just dropped my truck off at the dealership to have the lights installed. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.
